What is the estimated delivery time?
Estimated delivery time depends on the following factors:
It is possible that the Seller or our courier partners observe a holiday between the day you placed your order and the date of delivery, which is based on the timelines shown on the product page. In this case, we add a day to the estimated date. Some courier partners and Sellers do not work on Sundays and this is factored in to the delivery dates.
For items listed as "In Stock", Sellers will mention the delivery time based on your location pincode (usually 2-3 business days, 4-5 business days or 4-6 business days in areas where standard courier service is available). For other areas, orders will be sent by Registered Post through the Indian Postal Service which may take 1-2 weeks depending on the location.
The Seller might not have the item in stock but can procure it when an order is placed. The delivery time will depend on the estimated procurement time and the estimated shipping time to your location.
'Preorder' or 'Forthcoming'
Such items are expected to be released soon and can be pre-booked for you. The item will be shipped to you on the day of it's official release launch and will reach you in 2 to 6 business days. The Preorder duration varies from item to item. Once known, release time and date is mentioned. (Eg. 5th May, August 3rd week)
'Out of Stock'
Currently, the item is not available for sale. Use the 'Notify Me' feature to know once it is available for purchase.
Sometimes, items have to be sourced by Sellers from outside India. These items are mentioned as 'Imported' on the product page and can take at least 10 days or more to be delivered to you.
'Back In Stock Soon'
The item is popular and is sold out. You can however 'book' an order for the product and it will be shipped according to the timelines mentioned by the Seller.
The product is currently out of stock and is not available for purchase. The product could to be in stock soon. Use the 'Notify Me' feature to know when it is available for purchase.
This product is no longer available because it is obsolete and/or its production has been discontinued.
'Out of Print'
This product is not available because it is no longer published and has been permanently discontinued.
You have probably noticed varying estimated delivery times for Sellers of the product you are interested in. Delivery times are influenced by product availability, geographic location of the Seller, your shipping destination and the courier partner's time-to-deliver to your location.
Please enter your default pin code on the product page (you don't have to enter it every single time) to know more accurate delivery times on the product page itself.

Before you buy this product- let me remind you that there are two hardware versions of this device & make sure you get hardware version 2.0 found in the bottom of the box, near Model, serial Number. The advantage of V2.0 is
1. Guest Network Access provides secure Wi-Fi access for guests sharing your home or office network
2. Antenna Gain 2 x5dBi (Range is Good for 1200Sqft ... i.e. 2 Antenna with individual gain of 5dBi)
You cannot find these in V 1.X product -
Where Antenna Gain is only 2 x3dBi (Range is Average for 1000 Sqft ... i.e. 2 Antenna with individual gain of 3dBi)
In all the online website, the specification is only 2x 5dBi for Antenna Gain, which is false, if they are supplying you with Version 1.X.
You can find this information in Tp-Link Website, where it gives only Version 2.0 Specification - I found this info when I was comparing what’s the difference between V1 & V2 of the same product.
Today i spoke with Tp-Link Support and confirmed that - Version 1.X has 2x3dBi Antenna.. Only in Version 2.0 they provide with 5dBi - Antenna ..
You can check it out in TP-Link Website, where they provide separate DataSheet for V1 & V2 - Flipkart is not allowing me to insert the exact link of DataSheet ..
So Beware... :) Hope this information helps you guys.
FYI - You can get a lot cheaper in other websites -- :D
Rewind: Nov 2012, I am in search for a better router which will be my all-in-one device. I use MTNL's Triband at home for the internet and I was in need of an ADSL 2+ router, which will have very low or zero latency (MTNL's ADSL modem can be connected to a DSL router and connection can be established too)
Jan 2013, I find this beautiful WiFi router TP-Link TD-W8968 listed on their company website; beautiful because of the features that are packed in it. I can't find it available on any of the e-commerce websites or even Flipkart. Frustrated with waiting for almost 3 months, I called up their India authorized dealer and inquired about this product's availability, but my bad luck was such that it was NOT available in India. By now, I had made up my mind to buy this or not buy any router at all.
March 2013 first week, My last hope was withering away and I had given up on its listing to be available anytime soon. But to my sweet surprise, this piece was listed on Flipkart's website. Without any hesitation, I ordered this product on Flipkart (I was desperate by now!)
Flipkart helped me expedite this product's delivery on request! Thanks a ton FK guys!
Now coming to the Product features and performance review!
Build quality & Installation
- First thing you notice about this WiFi router is how aesthetic the router is built. I loved its design and size.
- The body of this router has many holes which go through and through, which means this router will never heat up extensively. Remember this is important design aspect, since, most of the routers die due to overheating.
- Setup is a walk in a park and took me hardly 5 mins to power ON and browse the internet on my WiFi device (This being my first WiFi router installation)
- There is a big red sticker on the back of their router which alerts the user to run the pre-loaded software in the CD before making any connections. I do a lot of R&D myself without looking into a manual/ installation guide, but here I stuck to running the software that came along. Actually this is the best part of the installation because, you need to connect the wires as shown in the flash animation which runs along and next you select the country: India and voila, it has most of the ADSL networks already listed. So I select MTNL Triband which is an option in the list and click next and after 5 mins, I am on the internet - the wireless way! :)
- Well setup was a breeze! (Can't help but repeat the statement again)
- It is a 300 Mbps connectivity WiFi router with dual antennae of 3 dbi each. The range covers almost full house + any corner combination!
- The main feature of this WiFi router is the EWAN port, many of the WiFi router users might not even heard of this before, EWAN is the only reason I was desperate to buy this router. EWAN port makes it possible to use this WiFi router as a DSL router too. So, tomorrow if I switch to DSL Cable Internet, then I wont require to change the router and vice versa!
- Never experienced a signal drop, it has been ON for more than 24 hrs at a stretch, still NO losses!
- This router comes with one USB port which can be used for file sharing, printer sharing, etc. and now it can be even used for 3G datacard connectivity!
- A true all-in-one router, for a price that is so irresistible. I was the first buyer, but I chose to review it after 10 days of usage, to give a better review.
- In addition, it has a WiFi ON-OFF switch and a WPS switch to WiFi Protected Setup. WPS allows establishing of a secure wireless home network!
- I couldn't find any drawback on this one, since I am already impressed with its performance. But to add into this point, only the speed of the USB file sharing is not that great or left me unimpressed but it isn't that low too (Read @ 2.4 Mbps max, Write@1.5 Mbps)
5/5: For the killer pricing and truly all-in-one WiFi router. Look no further!
The model of the modem as advertised is 2.0 because an antennae gain of 5dbi is only available in the hardware version 2.0
However it is disheartening to have received the version 1.0 which has an antennae gain of 3dbi contrary to the specifications mentioned.
Be sure to check the hardware version of the model which should be 2.0
check the official site of tplink for more details.....
KNOW WHAT YOU BUY !!!!
I have been using the TP-link W8961 series at multiple locations for a while and the 8968 is a very good upgrade on the older versions.
If anyone is familiar with the 8961, then you will be right at home with this model. To bgein with, setup is a breeze, and I have not even once had the need to use the installation disk. It connects with my BSNL DSL connection without any major configuration problems but it does need some tweaking of the settings to get it to work - VLC 0-35 etc.
Speed over Wifi is good, generally around 150 to 200 mbps - and I have never experienced any stuttering or buffering problems when opening youtube etc on my Tablet at 480p.
Range is also good, the two large antennas provide a decent coverage of my 1100 square foot apartment and with with two foot thick walls in between, still provides a coverage of about 8 meters with no significant performance hit.
NAT / Port forwarding is a one of the best I have seen with the UI well laid out and no mucking around with the settings to get everything working. I use DYNDNS as well, and the router was to first to happily accept my account details without hassles.
I currently have the following connected to the router via its ports:
1. My tower PC
2. My LG Smart TV
3. My CCTV Dvr
Over wifi my Ipcamera is continuously connected and works just fine.
It should be pointed out that even when the router is serving everything at the same time the device rarely felt warm.
Now to the primary reason why you should consider this router:
It supports FTP and a DLNA Media file sharing via its usb port. Plugin your external harddisk, and go though the file sharing setup and you can access your files via FTP or stream media content to your DLNA clients like XBMC.
In effect you can have a small one bay NAS setup with this configuration, at a fraction of the price of a dedicated NAS system.
All in all a very good buy for those looking for good wifi speed and range along with file sharing features.
I bought this Modem from Nehru Place, Delhi for Rs. 2450. But i took them 2 days to arrange it.
Well the modem is a stylish looking one. It has a classy top design which is efficiently designed to reduce heating.
It is an ADSL2+ modem, that means all the leading ISP's in India support it. I have Airtel Broadband.
The setup was easy. If you have knowledge about the previous airtel modem or any other modem, you can set it up easily. If not, the CD with the package shows a flash video which easily enables you to set it up without any hassles.
Further to configure the router, I got some problem in the Quick Installation via CD but when I reached the 192.168.1.1 link, configuration was smooth and within minutes I could set up everything.
The range is almost double of the previous airtel wifi modem I was using and since its a N router, the range has to be better.
The USB port functions well. You just have to install the Print Driver from the CD and attach the printer or scanner USB to the modem. Then sitting anywhere in the range of your TP Link modem, you can print or scan anything absolutely wireless.
I would say go on. Buy this one. DLink offers a cheap version with same specs but has many drawbacks, making this a premium choice.
