Transcend JetFlash 500 16 GB Pen Drive

Was couriered through Aramex courier service. Am not so much happy with their service as I'm with Flipkart's Self Delivery. Due to a bit of communication gap, I received the product a day later.

But "most" of the time, copying or moving a ~700 MB file (movies) from USB Drive to Hard Disk took less than 2 seconds.

One word a Performance Drive

If you want a fast flash drive, then this is the thing look no further as the saying goes "more options more confusion"

Although there are hell lots of pendrives available in the market in the same price bracket with funky looks but they usually have poor writing speed

-- Extremely fast writing speed(compared to others) ranges between 18-20 MB/s
-- Capless design, a simple sliding mechanish which i just love it as i dont have to worry about the stupid cap if lost then searching for it becomes a pain in the ***.
-- Bundled recovery software
-- Big LED indicator(the sliding switch is the LED )

Con's:
-- Size: no doubt its big when compared to others
-- No carrying band provided, looks like transcend is cutting cost

If you want performance then look no further, if you want style and want to flaunt with your pendrive hooked into your keychain then i am sure this is not for you.

This is the mid-range 16 GB USB drive marketed by Transcend, which, in general, has a reputation for combining speed and long-term reliability in its line of USB drives.

My personal desktop is powered by and AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+, which is quite old and slow by today's standards. Even so, I have observed sequential write speeds of 25-30 MB/s in situations where a relatively small number of files take up a large amount of space. Not unexpectedly, this performance degrades significantly in situations where a large number of small files are transferred.

The read speed is greater than the write speed ( ~35-40 MB/s), but then, this is another feature that is common to practically all USB drives. I would recommend that fellow buyers activate the warranty with the application provided on the drive and proceed to reformat the file system to NTFS, preferably with a full format done through the command line interface.

1. Click on "Run" in the Start Menu.
2. Type "cmd" and and wait for the command prompt.
3. Please note the Drive Letter of your USB drive (e.g. G:/)
4. On the command prompt, type "format :", taking care to remove the quotes and substitute the proper drive letter.
5. Follow the instructions and wait until the process finishes.

In conclusion, the product is another stellar offering from Transcend, and I thank Flipkart for bringing it to my attention. However, I will point out that Flipkart really needs to step up on its delivery schedule. I live in Kolkata, and it 5 days for the product to reach me! For a Metro city, that is an extremely unflattering achievement.

Received the item quickly. Found the product to be good. Copying is pretty fast.

i purchased this item a month back and the writing speed goes upto 20 MBPS which is Unbeatable..

the Retractability of this model is the one point where i found it was a better option..
my previous drives were not as efficient too
