Transcend StoreJet 25M2 2.5 inch 500 GB External Hard Disk

If you go ahead and buy this, and in case you experience problems, which are frequent in case of hard disk drives, be prepared for the worst after sales service ever. Transcend will not entertain any complaints and instead direct you to a third party called Accel Frontline Services, and evers since the Hard Disk prices have gone up due to the flood in south east Asia last year, Accel Frontline will simply deny taking the Hard Disk stating vague reasons and showing you copy paste emails from Transcends office stating not to entertain any returns. Its been six months several phone calls and two personal visits at Accel frontlines Hyderabad office and I haven't even been able to submit my hard disk, let alone get a replacement. DO NOT BUY simply because of a very bad and dishonest warranty support.

I have used Hard discs of Transcend, WD, Buffalo, Iomega. Two of my discs did not work. The first one was fortunately within 30 days & flipkart replaced it after I registered RMA report with Iomega which was not such a difficult task.

But Transcend's behaviour is a frustrating experience. I have been sitting hopelessly for a long time for my defective 640GB Transcend drive, but all I get is a smooth talking mail which refuses any direct responsibility & is devoid of any intention of action. There is nothing like a Transcend India office.

Later when I went to Nehru Place, Delhi the HDD sellers also confirmed me this attitude. Bad company. Beware.

i am using it from almost one year...working too good ,it is better than other cause

Although there are many 500GB external hard drives available at a cheaper price, but they surely cant beat this one on build quality. The design is amazing and the rubber grip is super handy. Another thing that's good about this product is that is has great shock protection; So you don't loose all your data if you happen to drop it accidentally.
It has a one touch backup button which makes backing-up data a breeze.

One thing to be noted though is that it needs two USB ports to function to its full capacity (an extra one to draw sufficient power). But I've used it directly with my Television with only one UBS connection and i couldn't find any problems in playback or quality.

I'd recommend this product to anyone looking to buy a 500 GB drive.
