Maryanne had blocked out her childhood life before she came to live with her Aunt Lucie. The world was at her feet, and she looked forward to a successful life--until she met Rodney. In little over a year, everything Maryanne had dreamed of had been destroyed. Family, friends, college, and self esteem was gone, without Maryanne realizing they had been taken away. Her life took a turn for the worse when she met a lawyer in the hospital while recovering from a deadly attack. Thinking this lawyer could help her, it turned out he was a link to her past and to the parents she barely knew.
