  • Description

In this mystery novel by Joël Dicker, a writer journeys to his mentor's hometown for advice, and is engulfed in a search to find a murderer, and to tell everyone The Truth About The Harry Quebert Affair.

    Summary of the Book

It began as a casual visit to his mentor to salve the one-time-hit Marcus Goldman's writer's block. He didn't expect it to turn into a murder investigation, one deeply seeded in the story of a girl who vanished thirty-three years before. Marcus alone believes that Henry Quebert is innocent, and he begins his own investigation into the disappearance of fifteen year old Nola Kellergan. Against impossible odds, as Quebert admits to having an affair with the young girl years ago, Marcus must follow a trail of clues through the old writer's books, the backwoods and empty beaches of New Hampshire in an investigation his own life rides on. Marcus begins to ask himself an impossible question: how can he write a book to save one man's life?

    One in a thousand!

I am not a crime and mystery reader. So when my friend suggested me this book, I had second thoughts investing my money into a genre I like the least. Thanks to flipkart for its prompt delivery. The story revolves around a writer who is accused of a murder and his dear student helps in solving the case for him. The characters are very simple and with each chapter you will want more to read. Every page is crafted in such a way that it leaves you with jaw dropping suspense. There are two very ...

    Brilliant page-turner!

The Truth about the Harry Quebert affair was an excellent read. The story was masterfully written and the reader doesn't have a clue until the last few pages. Definitely a must-read. Would surely check out the movie adaptation if there is one.

A small town, a murder and a famous author....

I really enjoyed this book. It had many twists and turns and the underlying premise of pedophilia was unsettling but handled very well. I later read some bad reviews of the book and am glad I hadn't read them earlier because it may have put me off reading it.

    Full of twists

A very well written novel. It is huge but once you start you cannot put it down. And the surprises just keep coming. The protagonist comes across as a nice straightforward guy and that makes for relaxing reading.....unlike many of the narrators who are tortured souls or supremely complex characters.

    Suspense

I ordered the book from Flipkart about 3 weeks back and got the delivery in about 3 days. Once you start reading the book you will get completely engrossed in the story. It is difficult to keep the book down till you finish reading it. You have to know what happened to the 16 year old girl or what actually is Harry Quebert hiding.
The Suspense and the Drama is built very nicely and this definitely would make a hell of a movie...
A note of caution this book has a slight tone of adult content.
