Summary Of The Book
UGC NET/JRF/SLET: Teaching And Research Aptitude (General Paper - I) is a book for candidates who are preparing for the UGC examinations. The University Grants Commission (UGC) is responsible for appointing lecturers in Indian universities and colleges. The National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted at the national level, and those who qualify are then eligible to teach anywhere across India, or join doctorate programmes. The Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) is an award for eligible NET candidates. From December 2013, many PSUs have also started using NET scores to screen potential employees. Many states are also entitled to conduct their own state level entrance exams with UGC’s approval. Those who qualify by writing SLET (State Level Eligibility Test for Lectureship Eligibility), now called SET (State Eligibility Test for Lectureship), can join as teachers in institutions within that particular state.
UGC NET/JRF/SLET: Teaching And Research Aptitude (General Paper - I) has been designed as per the latest format and syllabus of these examinations. The book contains three solved papers from December 2011, June 2012, and December 2012. Detailed solutions and explanations accompany these question sets. The book contains ten units, and each unit elaborates on different topics. The first four units of this guidebook are Teaching Aptitude, Research Aptitude, Reading Comprehension, and Communication. This is followed by a section of Reasoning, which includes number and letter series, puzzles, analogy tests, and classifications.
The next section of UGC NET/JRF/SLET: Teaching And Research Aptitude (General Paper - I) is tiled Logical Reasoning. Candidates will get the opportunity to learn about critical reasoning, and deductive and inductive reasoning. The authors also elaborate on arguments, assumptions, premises, and conclusions. Units 7 to 10 cover a wide range of topics, including polity and administration, environment, and technology, amongst others. The fifth and seventh unit of this guidebook, namely Reasoning and Data Interpretation respectively, contain graphs, diagrams, and charts in order to help candidates understand the theory better.
At the end of every unit, readers will find Multiple Choice Questions and their objective answers in UGC NET/JRF/SLET: Teaching And Research Aptitude (General Paper - I). This book also has previous years’ question papers, along with two model question sets. Students can gain practice by solving these papers, and thus be ready for their final exams.
