Highly recommended fro beginners
when I have stared learning Solaris for one of my official assignments.
One of my friends suggested this book.I am benefitted a lot from this book.
Now I am able to handle my solaris server and can retrieve any information required for my day to day tasks.
it covers most of the unix programs like AWK,SED,Grep , Egrep and programming languages like perl.
main features of this book are .
1.great help for beginners.
2.well organised
3.simple english
4.covers many commands with simple examples
5.can also be used as refence manual.
after reading this, I wrote more than 20 shell scripts
I highly recommend this book for all beginners.

This Book covers Everything you wanted to know about UNIX operating system. Nice book for getting started with UNIX
This is a very nice text for newbies in Unix/Linux. It will teach you how to accomplish simple tasks from command prompt. it may be a little difficult to digest for the Windows users but let me tell you once you learn Unix, you will never want to use windows again.
It doesn't teaches you programming or system programming. I use it as a handy reference even today.

Good book which covers all the aspects of Unix
I feel that the books covers every aspect of Unix operating system and is beneficial for both beginners and experienced. For experienced, it would help in revising, right from the basics to advanced concepts. Plus it describes Linux as well, contrasting some scenarios with Unix.
