  • Description

Unreal Elections, authored by C. S. Krishna & Karthik Laxman, is a witty book on various political situations and issues of India. The articles have a bit of humourous and satirical touch. India's funniest bloggers come together in this book with their funny, yet truthful takes on Indian politics.

    Summary of the Book

How would you like it if the political situations are linked to some movies, songs or artists? If you are a little overwhelmed with the monotony of serious political debates, panel discussions and the screaming and the shouting on national television, here is a book that would offer you a sweet escape. How would you like Narendra Modi’s favourite movie to be augured as The Lion King? How Sonia restructures her cabinet time and again with Britney Spears’ songs inspiring her to do it? Why isn’t Arvind Kejriwal parting from his shawl even in the burning hot days of summer in Delhi? Is there anything at all that can get our P. M. Manmohan Singh annoyed or irritated or outraged? The book ponders upon these questions with a provocative, humourous perspective.

    About the Authors

C.S. Krishna is a self-proclaimed legendary development consultant. He wants to make it big as a public policy guru but three years of writing satire for The UnReal Times under the pseudonym Unreal Mama has rendered him incapable of thinking seriously. He has an engineering degree from IIT Bombay an MS from The Ohio State University and an MBA from IIM-Ahmedabad.

Karthik Laxman has a degree in software engineering from BITS-Pilani and an MBA from IIM-Ahmedabad. In his career he has taken more U-turns than Mulayam Singh Yadav and Arvind Kejriwal put together, transitioning from a programmer to management consultant to development specialist to entrepreneur to sundry other roles, before finding his calling as a house-husband. He also writes for and manages The UnReal Times.

    Laugh riot

It's a laugh riot from the first page to the last. I have been following The UnReal Times for over a year and so knew what was coming but the book exceeded my expectations. It's spot on with the satire and there are also elements of suspense leading to a stunning climax. In fact, towards the end, I was rolling on the floor at the unexpected twist. Definitely worth buying

It has been an interesting read and full of sarcasm on various political Leaders from India.

This book will change the way you will look at Indian politics forever.

If you thought you have had enough of the never ending general elections coverage, think again. ‘Unreal Elections’ will change the way you look at any Indian election coverage forever. A zany, quirky read, the book is the perfect parody and is filled with the usual dollops of humour, satire, suspense and thrill which will leave you gasping for more.

The action begins as political parties throughout the country ready themselves for the General Elections. How the ‘big two’ of Indian politics ...

    Excellent satire!

    This book is hilarious!
Written by two genius authors, you can expect one nitty-witty book. The book places before us conversations between key party leaders and politiciand of Congress and BJP. Extreme satire and exaggerations make things clearer. People with good political knowledge will understand the book better.

Mediapersons, Arnab, NDTV have been spoofed real well. Kejriwal and AAP havent been given many pages though. The KBC scene and the spoof on rahul Gandhi in the end were extremel...

    Satire at its best

Kudos to the writers for such a creative take on perhaps what can be called as the biggest event in the country so far. Hilarious, funny and truely the best satirical take on every situation preceeding the elections. My favorite is the end, the climax that may not leave you surprised but it does leave you thinking.

And as always Flipkart delivery #awesome

For those who enjoy political satire, the book is a laugh riot.

I confess that I am not an avid reader; the last non-academic book that I read was in my schooldays and Unreal Elections is the first such book to be bought and read by me in almost three decades. The book, which is published by Penguin (India) has been authored by C.S Krishna and Karthik Laxman - the founders of the popular Unreal Times, is a satire on the present day politics written in the backdrop of 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Since I am familiar with the work of Unreal Times on their webs...

Bound to tickle your funny bones!

Easily one of the best books I've read this year. The authors have done really well in capturing the real life mannerisms of all the people they have taken a dig at and have bought it out so well that you start wondering whether it could all be really true. The part where the congress does the cabinet reshuffle was especially hilarious. It is definitely worth every rupee and is sure to give you some much needed comic relief!

    Excellent description, excellent satire

I bought this book as per suggestion from my friend! And well, it was worth of the price and time lapsed for reading it! Hats off to the writer! I have been fan of his sense of humor, his way of recollecting funny incidents based on the true incidents! However on the mask of irony he has clearly indicated some true undeniable facts e.g.
    1) The unofficial kingdom of Gandhi-Nehru dynasty inside the Congress.
    2) The stupid reactions of the media in every incident.
    3) The actual face of all polit...

    Good satire on Indian Polity

I must admit that i had never heard on UNREAL TIMES before the book.
I picked up this book because i was following the elections on TV, paper (everywhere) and this book promised to provide comic angle to the elections.

The book is good in pieces, some places you really feel like laughing and at others you feel WHY...

The personalities given to the politician and pretty imaginative.
The Facebook chats in between did not entice me much.
