This is a very light and compact HDD which does it's job very well.
1. It's USB 3.0 (and USB 2.0) compatible.
2. Doesn't get anywhere near as hot during use as I was expecting it to.
1. Mac users beware! Contrary to WD's claims, the bundled software WDSmartWare is not compatible with Mac OS X (at least not with Snow Leopard). I know of numerous users who have had problems with this HDD because they installed WDSmartWare. It causes the drive to repeatedly power off and disconnect automatically within a few seconds or minutes of use, rendering it essentially useless. So DON"T INSTALL this software, or if you have and are facing problems, uninstall it properly using the uninstaller - don't just trash it!
2. The finish on this thing is very glossy, and easily attracts fingerprints. If this is a big enough issue for you, go for the silver one instead of the black one - I hear that has a non-glossy finish.
