@Shaurya, the phone is targeted on extreme end of low level market. It is a basic phone. There are people (like one who gets daily wages in rural areas) for whom Rs.230/- matters. This is phone is good rugged phones of Nokia mark. My mother likes it much better than my Nokia Lumia 800 smart phone :).
Similarly for people who are in need of dual SIM at low level, 101 suits best. Please observe that there are different targets consumers.
Thanks to Manish for the book making it precise and wealth of information. As the name suggests it wakes up the "Investor" in you. Treat the book as work book in the first reading itself, reading it as novel won't help, even though it may ignite some thought.
In India many of us are pro savers, compared to other parts of world. The book helps us in organizing the savings in a professional and calculated way. The book talks in terms of achievable (SMART) goals. It clears some of old myths.
It would be even more helpful, if it would have been included some basics about various saving schemes, low-medium-high risk sectors, stocks, MF, etc... as an added material.
Gift the book to the person who started his career. Last but not least, the author emphasizes "Peace of mind and contentment" also as wealth.
The book covers many short cuts of binary number system in relation to decimal system. It is must have book for compiler writers and those who are interested in computing. Short book and lot of information, strongly recommended for interested readers.
Long awaited for the book to be released in India. Precise and lucid explanations of algorithms. Unlike earlier editions, the book provides code in Java (I don't appreciate providing code in specific language, perhaps the book is aimed at students) and booksite is another asset. Booksite is having great collection of problems for interested readers/professionals.
- Emphasizes ADT, API and their implementation in Java. Speaks in terms of client code and library code
- Pictures are well used
- Graphs and their implementation is covered in detail from practical stand
- Great collection of problems on the companion site and at the end of every chapter, especially those labeled as "creative" (providing hints would add more value)
- (con) lack algorithms on other important categories like arithmetic, backtracking, dynamic programming, etc...
Overall I recommend the book, if you are beginner start with this book, if you are CS professional pick any topic at random and read the material, it will help surely.
I must appreciate the author efforts in collecting questions and preparing elaborated solutions to all the questions.
A professional may feel that the explanations are prolonged. It may be required for students.
Whether you are a professional or student, keep the book as a work book. Don't rush to glance at solution. Sincerely attempt questions, and compare your answers with those given in the book. Practice every solution on a piece of paper and approach compiler.
Pros:
Plenty of collection of questions, different solutions to similar problems, relating these solutions from chapter to chapter, easy approach and wide variety of topics.
Cons:
The book is too big. It would have been more comfortable to hold and carry, if the book size is small note book size. Even the font size is big. Hope the author takes care of these in the next edition.
Surely, his books are good companions for great career aspirants. Above all, practice makes perfect.
I got the 5th edition in 3 days, thanks to Flipkart.
It is worth to have the book on personal library. It helps to prepare behavioral and technical aspects. There are few typos, yet the material flow is readable.
Follows Java as base language to implement code. C/C geeks will be able to follow the logic, if not syntax. They can easily write code in C/C by following Java code.
Do not rush to read solutions, if you rush, it is of no use. Try to solve each question in different ways, think of variants of similar problem. Then compare your solution with the one provided at the end of text. In fact, about 3/5 part of book devoted to solutions.
Treat the book as work book and spend quality amount of time, you will gain from the book.
I first read soft copy of the book (available on their website), then decided to own it. It is the precise book on algorithms that I read. Lucid explanations. More emphasis on Arithmetic, Graphs, Greedy, Dynamic Programming and computational problems. Every chapter having excellent collection of algorithms.
Strongly recommend the book to students and professionals. Solve exercises, just reading won't help.
Thanks to Flipkart for their service.
Nice collection of algorithmic problems and references. If you have basic insights into algorithms, start reading related material in the book. It provides various implementation methods, complexities, references and related problems.
Pick one topic and implement them. Just rush to read the content of the book won't help. Referring your implementation with the library code will improve your understanding.
Great book, but not recommended for beginners. To be reserved on professional's desk.
Quite nice book on algorithms introduction. The material is extensive enough to explain the concepts behind algorithms. Dividing chapters based on algorithm design strategy is unique feature of the book. Exercise problems is another asset. I highly recommend the book if you are new to algorithms.
Few universities in India customized and adopted the book as standard reference.
