It's always good to protect your lenses. This UV filter can be left on your lenses like a permanent UV and dust protector. The build quality is good. I recommend you to buy a lens cleaning kit along with this filter anyways.

Although the build quality and finish aren't so great, this can still prove to be a pretty decent and cheap tripod. It is light and the height comes to around 5 feet 6 inches. Probably you should opt for one which has a ball-head.
