a good start for engineers

awesome is the word. the book has everything which is required for a good start for engineers. being the most basic engineering subject it offers everything. there are a few example problems and many problems for practice.

The best book for concept building as well as practice problems

This is the best book for first and second year Mech/Civil engg students. Especially for mechanical engineers; this book should be read from cover to cover, if s/he is preparing for IES/PSU/GATE. The chapters on 'friction, first and second moment of inertia' must be read with rapt concentration. Some chapters of dynamics may be left, but go through 'mechanical vibrations (last one)' very carefully
