Our knowledge of viruses has increased so rapidly in the last few years, that it has become increasingly difficult for the student to obtain an up-to-date picture of the subject. The primary aim of this text book, therefore is to present a succinct account of the essential features of the viruses and related diseases of man in a form suitable for students.

K C Sawant holds a Bachelor`s and Master`s degree in Zoology from the University of Mumbai. Having two decades of experience in teaching at various levels, he specialises in the field of physiology. He obtained his doctorate degree by doing research on Nephrology. Presently he is guiding research scholars and actively engaged in doing research on various aspects of human development.
