Walker's Pediatric Gastrointestinal Disease: Physiology, Diagnosis, Management

For the fifth edition of this two-volume medical text on pediatric gastrointestinal disease Professor Allan Walker has handed over lead editorship duties to Ronald Kleinman (physician-in-chief and chair of the department of pediatrics at Massachusetts General Hospital for Children and a professor at Harvard Medical School), who together with his co-editors intends this text to provide a comprehensive, international overview of the most recent concepts regarding the pathophysiologic basis of gastrointestinal and hepatologic disorders affecting newborns, children, and adolescents; a consideration of the differential diagnosis; and evidence-based approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of these conditions. Following an introductory essay on the history of pediatric gastroenterology, the volume's 59 chapters are presented in sections on the mouth and esophagus, stomach and duodenum, intestine, liver, pancreas, diagnosis of gastrointestinal disorders, psychosocial aspects of gastrointestinal disorders, and principles of clinical investigation.
