What is Flipkart Wallet ?
Flipkart wallet is a single and convenient destination where you can store and access your payment instruments in one place. Currently your Gift Cards, WSR Cash Balance and Saved Cards.
The wallet also aggregates the outstanding amount in your Flipkart Gift Cards and WS Retail Cash Balance and lets you utilize them seamlessly during payment.
How is the Flipkart Wallet beneficial to me ?
You receive multiple Gift Cards from your friends. They are communicated to your as 16-digit Card numbers and PIN through an email to you. It is a cumbersome process to manage multiple such Flipkart Gift Cards lying in your mailbox and then use them to fund your purchase on Flipkart.
Instead, now you can simply add your Flipkart Gift Cards to your wallet and manage them in a single place. Post this addition, you do not have to remember the 16 digit Card numbers or hunt through your mailbox to retrieve your PIN. Flipkart will remember your Gift Card for you and provide the same as a part of your Wallet Balance when you pay for your purchase on Flipkart
How do I add to my Flipkart Wallet ?
Your WS Retail Cash Balance will reflect automatically in the Flipkart Wallet.
Gift Cards can be added in two ways.The mail you receive when your friend gifts you a Flipkart Gift Card will contain a link 'Add to Wallet'. On clicking on the link and providing your Flipkart Login Credentials the Gift Card will get added seamlessly to your Flipkart Wallet.
Alternatively, if you have previously purchased Gift Cards received in the print format, you can add them to your Flipkart Wallet on the Flipkart Website or App. On the Wallet Dashboard you will have a link for 'Add an Gift Card'
How do I use Flipkart Wallet to make a payment ?
At the time of making a payment, you will see the total wallet balance available to you for that particular purchase and you can choose to use it for the transaction.
What if the my Wallet balance is lower than the purchase amount? Can I partially pay using the wallet?
You can still redeem your wallet balance for the purchase. The remaining amount after exhausting your wallet balance can be paid for by using any of the other payment options available to you (these will be displayed on the same page)
How does my wallet balance get utilised during payment ?
Flipkart has deployed intelligent utilization of wallet balances where the Gift Cards which are closer to their expiry date are utilised first. WSR Balance is redeemed next.
WSR Balance will continue to get redeemed only against purchases made from WS Retail.
What happens when I return an item I purchased using my wallet ?
When the item you purchased using your Wallet balance is returned, the money is returned to your wallet, back to original source. If Gift Cards were redeemed in the original transaction, then the same will be recreated to the original amount prior to the transaction. The amount originally redeemed from WSR Cash Balance will be refunded as WSR Cash Balance only.
Can I use a Flipkart Gift Card even if it is not added to my wallet ?
Yes, you can use your Flipkart Gift Card even if it is not added to your wallet. It can be utilised by selecting the Gift Card tab at the payment page. You can redeem the Gift Card by entering the 16-digit Card number and 4-digit PIN.
However, for your convenience of use we recommend that you add any Flipkart Gift Card you might have to your wallet.
What does 'Transfer Gift Card' do ?
You can transfer your Flipkart Gift Cards with your loved ones by simply clicking on 'Transfer Gift Card'. You will have to specify the email id of the person you want to transfer your Gift Card to and they will receive the Gift Card in the email id shared by you.What/'s more, they can add the transferred Gift Card in their wallet. However, they will not have any visibility in the history of the Gift Card in your Wallet. For them, it will be as good as a new Gift Card.
Can I transfer partially utilised Gift Cards ?
Yes, you can. You can transfer your Flipkart Gift Cards at any point of time as long as they have not expired and have some redeemable amount left in them. However, the beneficiary will not have any visibility in the history of the Gift Card in your Wallet. For him, it will be as good as a new Gift Card with a denomination equalling the balance in the Card at the time of the transfer.
Please note, the expiry date of the Gift Card does not change when you transfer it to someone.
Can another person use my Flipkart Gift Card, if it is already saved in my wallet ?
No one can use an Gift Card that is added to your Wallet. For another person to use a Flipkart Gift Card which has been added to your wallet, you will have to transfer the Gift Card to his/her email id as described in the previous question.
Can I transfer my WS Retail Cash Balances to another person ?
You cannot transfer your WS Retail Cash Balance to another person. Also you cannot add or withdraw money from the WS Retail Cash Balance.
What if I transfer my Gift Card to a friend when I am expecting a refund for an Gift Card financed purchase on Flipkart?
As per regulations, if a purchase using an Gift Card is returned/cancelled, then it is mandatory that the funds are refunded to the original instrument only.
Hence, if you make a purchase on Flipkart using an Gift Card, then transfer the Card to a friend and then claim refund for the original purchase, the refund will go back into the same Gift Card Number (which is now transferred to your friend).
How do you use this Gift Card?
There are two ways of using the Gift Card
Click on the 'Add to Wallet' button above and link the Gift Card to your wallet. You can maintain the Card, check status and balance of the same and seamlessly redeem it against your purchases on Flipkart. Also, if you wish, you can transfer it to your friend as well.
If you do not want to add the Card to your Flipkart Wallet, you can go to the Flipkart App and select your items to purchase. After you check-out and proceed with the ordering process, you will have to choose Gift Card as the mode of payment. Enter your Card Number and PIN there to redeem the Card. Should the transaction amount be greater than the Card balance, you will have to fund the same through other Cards or payment methods like Credit Card, Debit Card or Net Banking
