E-waste: Managing The Digital Dump Yard 

In an age of I pods and Nintendo’s, where technology is constantly getting upgraded, it is a matter of concern if it comes to obsolescence. All such electronic products which are no longer in use due to technological advancements or any other reasons are referred to as ‘e-waste’. Considering the current technological scenario, it is very essential to fathom the importance of issues as grave as e-waste and its management. This book aims at creating awareness about the problems in e-waste management in the global context. The problem is not confined to developed nations or developing or poor countries who are first hand sufferers or big business houses who store huge dump in their warehouses, but it has its roots in common household basements and trash bins. According to a recently published report by the Seattle-based Basal Action Network (BAN), developed nations have been exporting its e-waste to developing nations to avoid the expense that would be incurred in recycling. Developing nations, in a sense, are being used as digital dump yards for this e-waste. The adverse effects of e-waste dumping are, therefore, being intentionally camouflaged by nations across the globe. The book is an attempt to address the management of e-waste, its potential hazards and steps that need to be taken in managing it and restricting these dumping practices. The book sensitizes and educates readers on several steps which can help in e-waste management and how it can start from a layman.
