Long Term Reliability
I was thinking of upgrading my old 80 GB PATA Hard disk on my intel 865 chipset based desktop. The board has 1st generation SATA interface and I was not sure whether a SATA and PATA combination will work or not ( As I have to transfer the existing data). After researching a lot, I came across this drive which is satisfying all my criteria.
Pros:
1) Compatible with all old and new motherboards. So a future upgrade will save money atleast in this field.
2) Decent capacity ( 250 GB) with reasonable speed ( 7200 RPM)
3) SATA + PATA combination worked like a charm.
4) 3 years warranty ( Most has two years).
Cons
Relatively higher cost/GB compared to others ( may be for additional 1 year warranty ).
Overall a recommended product for those who wants to upgrade their old hard disk and also want to save for future upgrade.
