An impressive thriller from an Indian author! Unputdownable!

"The Winner's Price" is not mere storytelling. Coming from a debut author, this is a rich bouquet of experience from his IIT days, lyrically arranged in simple and lucid English, to reflect the pulls and pressures when aspiration and ambition pose tough and tricky challenges in life. The IIT bit apart, it just could be yours or my life too!

The brilliance comes from the way the author deftly weaves fiction into strands of facts and creates a thriller ambience, which virtually nudges oneself to finish at least a few more pages before taking a break. That irresistible urge is what...

The brilliance comes from the way the author deftly weaves fiction into strands of facts and creates a thriller ambience, which virtually nudges oneself to finish at least a few more pages before taking a break. That irresistible urge is what accrues the real kudos for an author. And since this is a debut novel, guess, SV Divvaakar deserves a few extra!

Interestingly, the five protagonists, represent a very wide spectrum of an individual's life cycle -- from a student, to a career aspirant, to a professional, and finally a change maker in their respective domains -- quite much the stages of an individual's journey through life. Just could be me and you too!

That makes "The Winner's Price" just as enjoyable and satisfying a read for a student, as it would be for a mid-career or established professional or entrepreneur. Certainly one of most impressive thrillers by an Indian author in recent times!

Should make a great blockbuster too, if it were to be taken up by our brethren in Bollywood!

The book is a modern day thriller, perhaps on the level of some of the well-written books by illustrious authors

The book is a modern day thriller, perhaps on the level of some of the well-written books by illustrious authors, Frederick Forsyth and Jeffrey Archer. The authors canny eye for detail and in ??????depth knowledge took me back to the ??????The Day of the Jackal?????? era. The author opens full-throttle, beginning with a common yet hardly spoken exam preparatory scenario, top engineering entrance exam (in this case the IIT entrance) bearing a heavy backpack on the shoulders of young guns. The author, using this base, recites a thrilling, bone-chilling tale of five IITians who after meeting at a reunion event go on to create something so huge, which not only engulfs their entirety but also commands huge sacrifices. Moral of the story-well I have no intentions of being a spoiler to what can be any fiction lover??????s memorable experience. No wonder actor Madhvan gives it a blurb of Bollywood masala.

A must read for all change makers

Wow, a truly forward looking, solution providing thriller. Leaves you thinking about the way you think, live or make a living. It??????s a true page-turner. Loved the way the author has described on what it takes to be a winner and what all sacrifices a winner has to make. Surely grabbed my attention and hope it does the same for other fiction lovers as well. A must read for all change makers. I surely hope somebody in the government departments also reads this one, and start thinking on possible ways to reduce corruption and make the whole system more efficient and effective. Not only that... ()

Not only that, the book also serves the interest of a young reader who are on the look-out for new, refreshing thriller novels.

The book keeps you hooked all the time and certainly explodes after the reunion event where all the IITians meet after 25 years. The writing reflects the author??????s in-depth knowledge and moulds it to create a riveting novel. The book touches upon a gamut of key issues like corruption, pressure to perform well in entrance exams and in all areas of life, social inclusion, which add an Indian flavor to it. A true masterpiece, must read for all!

A refreshing experience with story telling

At my age, books and their characters can give the company you crave.
The Winner's Price took me back to my younger days, brought me back to the world of now, and shared beautiful stories of some amazing people, all uniting for a purpose that serves all of us.

And unexpected combinations: an engineer who gets a Nobel Prize for Medicine; An Armani who wants to copy Indian designs, and drinks each night to Kolaveri Dee!
A tycoon who practices Amitabh Bachchan's dialogues in real life...

Above all, a beautiful ending to a gripping story.

However, I am reading it again to get some of the...

Above all, a beautiful ending to a gripping story.

However, I am reading it again to get some of the Internet terms right- its all so new, I've just learnt to use facebook, gmail and skype.

Disclosure: I am related to the author, but in no way influenced by him; and I am old enough to slap him for even suggesting a review. But a good read must be praised, so here I am.

A well balanced combination of facts and fiction

The story has touched upon the subjects which have affected the progress of the country and at the same time offered some fresh technological creative solutions as the author (and me too) believes our country offers the best of brains in this world. The story telling has interwoven the facts and fiction beautifully retaining its clarity and crispness. The book also reflects the price we pay fulfill our aspirations which i feel so true in the modern age. Looking forward to yet another refreshing book.
