Synopsis and Features

You are a monster slayer, Geralt of Rivia. The land of Flotsam is surrounded with monsters, celestial body snatchers, dragons and magic. You have come here to find your destiny. It is not as simple as doing the right thing or saving someone from an injustice. You decide what is right and what is wrong for you. You, as Geralt of Rivia, have done plenty of mistakes and the memories are not all good. The kingdom you live in is filled with deception, discoveries and power struggles. Braving through them all you have to reach the pinnacle of your search for the truth.

Developed by CD Projekt RED and published by Namco Bandai Games, Assassins of Kings gives you a story of magnanimous proportions. The single-player campaign starts with you trying to piece together what happened at the end of previous game. The Witcher 2 is split into 3 acts. The 3 chapters will take you on a long and memorable journey across Flotsam where you will have to take decisions that will affect the overall story in the game.

Decisions take prominence in the game as you shape your character from the start till the end. Geralt can be good or bad and nobody is there to judge this. This allows you to explore the game’s world as you deem fit. You don’t have a moral responsibility towards anyone, but yourself. This is as helpful as it can be devastating as the choices you make continue to affect you throughout the game. Every step you take in the game has to be carefully analysed as one wrong move can push you towards a different ending.

The RPG boasts of 4 beginnings and 16 completely different endings. This just goes to show how big and elaborate the game is. The game promises more than 40 hours of gameplay and that is just for the basic quest. You can even indulge in side missions like negotiating with a succubus or venturing deep into the forest to find valuable items.

The combat in the The Witcher 2 has grown leaps and bounds over its predecessor. Geralt has two swords ready in his arsenal. These include a steel one for humans and a silver one for monsters. You can set up different types of traps, throw knives and combine them with an array of magical abilities to overcome your enemies. Elements like the command wheel can be used to slow down time. You can mind-control enemies, put out magical sign lock to temporarily contain your opponents in shackles and a do a lot more. 

The combat system is complex and designed in such a way that it demands smart thinking. You have to pay close attention to every skill point you allocate to the character as mistakes can cost you dearly. Effectively allocating the skill points will assist you in taking down enemies much easier and lead you towards your quest, without any hassle.

The graphics in the game are beautifully created. Game designers have given exquisite detail to every element in the game, attempting to bond the player’s emotions with each level of the game. From towering heights of besieged ramparts to the beautiful forests surrounding the town of Flotsam, The Witcher 2 promises to be an unforgettable game.
