Book: Wto And India This book deals with the theme WTO and India. World Trade Organization (WTO) since its very inception has been a matter of intense debate in the academic as well as policy circles. India being the founder member and an advocate of fair trade, there has been a lot of expectations for substantial trade gains. However, the actual market access for India could not turn out to be significant. Over time, the North-south polarization over many issues got deepended, reflected in the deadlock in the dialgoue process at Cancun Ministerial Conference. Resultantly, the member coutnries adopted a Framework Agreement on August 1, 2004 for setting the stage for negotiations during forthcoming sixth Ministerial Conference of WTO, held at Hong Kong during December 13-18, 2005.
