You are a commander of an elite unit named XCOM. The paramilitary organization specializes in eliminating alien threats from Earth. Can you assume command and lead a group of soldiers to victory or will you suffer defeat, resulting in the untimely demise of our beloved planet? XCOM: Enemy Unknown holds the answers to all these questions and more.
The remake of the classic 1994 strategy game UFO: Enemy Unknown, XCOM: Enemy Unknown packs in new gameplay elements that will surprise you every time you switch on the game. The game is targeted towards hard-core and casual gamers who like games based on alien invasions. Enemy Unknown combines elements of real-time strategy, turn-based strategy and tactical role-playing to bring out a unique strategy video game that is very interesting to play. The game DVD is available for PC and carries a Mature rating from ESRB.
Synopsis and Features
When you are in a team which removes alien threats from Earth, you can be sure that your life will not only be dangerous, but also outright insane. Everyday is a new adventure as you are unsure what you will come into contact with. XCOM: Enemy Unknown tries to deliver the same. With missions designed to destroy the vilest of threats, you will be placed in intense situations where your decisions can make or mar an assignment. Get ready to blow your nemesis from outer space into history with UFO: Enemy Unknown.
Developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K Games, XCOM: Enemy Unknown offers various opportunities to engage your enemies and take them out creatively. You can do this by making the best use of the expert cover system. The system requirements essential to play the game smoothly on your computer are Windows Vista, a 2 GHz dual core processor, 20 GB free hard disk space, 2 GB RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT or ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT graphics card.
The single-player campaign introduces you to a global view element in the game known as Geoscape. Using this, you can keep track of your resources and manage your personnel easily. As this is a strategy game you will be handling research and production of alien technology that will help you in eliminating the aliens, allocate funds to various departments, give commands to your fleet of aircrafts and intercept UFO’s and many other things.
Soldiers lose lives every day when there is a war at hand. If you care about your soldiers and would like to keep their memory afresh, you can do it in this game as XCOM: Enemy Unknown provides you with a memorial wall. One of the most interesting features in the game is how many resources it offers. As soon as you build an XCOM base you can expand it to launch various satellites into the sky. This helps you to detect any imminent alien activity within the coverage area.
The improvements in the game include the new cover system. Using this, you can help your fellow comrades by providing suppressing fire if they get ambushed by enemies. If you want to do something more than destroying aliens or saving civilians you can opt for the several side-missions offered in the game. This is an interesting element as you can explore the world within the game and discover new surprises.
If you would like to challenge a friend who plays real-time strategy games very well you can do it in XCOM: Enemy Unknown as it supports multiplayer. You can play one-on-one tactical matches by mixing and matching alien and human soldiers to create a unique army of your own.

Brilliant refresh of the most iconic PC gameXCOM Enemy Unknown presents a fresh take on a legendary franchise. It does not move away much from the basic paradigms of the game but offers a much more simplified approach to it. This simplification never seems to dumb down the game, instead it makes you focus more on the strategic aspects of gameplay. Fresh graphics and sound are an added bonus.

GOOD GAMEUse your head type of a game. Good strategy oriented game. Turn by turn based one. Somewhat like board game risk but better.

Compelling turn based strategyThe original xcom is one of the most iconic and fondly remembered game on the PC. Firaxis have executed this re-imagining brilliantly, and made a classic in it's own right. Even if you don't like turn based strategy, get this game and you'll be converted.

Gripping, intelligent and engaging game!!!This game does not have the kind of graphics that we see in other advanced games that have Frostbite 2 technology, but the graphics ain't that bad.The best part about this game is its ability to absorb the player right into it.My initial demo run itself got me playing for almost 4 hrs continuously. The game play involves a good amount of strategy, squad management, research and many other areas still unexplored. If any of you have played dragon age origin and loved it like I did, this game is very similar in game play. Third person view and cut scenes play when appropriate. Its been rated high… (Expand)
