Wait, what?

Is puneeth high? Intel only has two phones out, the Xolo x900 (also known as orange San Diego and some other Russian phone brand) and the Motorola razr i. Xolo in an Indian company which helped brand the Intel phones (made by gigabyte) and sell them through lava marketing partnership. Sadly, that was the only good phone it could produce. And I saw good because I'm typing this from my x900...uncannily fast for a single core android phone. All the other phones are going to be Chinese rebrands... Similar to what micro max, karbonn and spice do. This, is a rebranded Chinese phone... Don't fall for dual core or 8mp... You won't be able to play games like most wanted on these dual cores what you can run on a single core HTC (talking about the one v here)... And the camera though high on pixels, doesn't have any back light sensor, or a decent enough module. You can expect 3mp images (obviously sharper because of the high resolution) which you can edit later with the apps from the market to make them look good... So that isn't that bad. My point of typing out this entire stupid thing? Don't go for Xolo just because it bought out the x900...that is something else. It's current line up is nothing compared to that. Save a little more. Wait for ces and mwc 2013...a lot of new cheap phones will come and some existing ones will get price cuts too. You can of course go for it if you want a basic smartphone without much hassle... Happy shopping. :)

Bang for the buck

As a personal policy I don't spend more than Rs 10,000 on a mobile. So when I thought of changing my Nokia 5230, I started looking for a decent Android phone. Almost bought MMX A110 but backed-off bec of large screen size. Then I narrowed down onto XOLO A700. I wanted to experience the phone before buying it, so went to a local seller. There I saw both A700 & A800 and got 15-20 mins on each mobile. Also after purchasing I got to compare it with my brothers SGS2. So here it is what u get for the price:
1. Build (7/10): Plastic doesn't look cheap at all though build is not very solid. white color looks beautiful. Don't like the thick bezel at bottom but can live with it. Back is beautiful matt finish. Sometimes it feels as if the mobile will slip out of your hands when taking out of the pocket
2. Display (9/10): the display just rocks. fell in love with it. can compete with maybe SGS3. Legibility is good even in sunlight.
3. Storage (7/10): comes with a 8 GB SD card apart from the standard. I swapped it with a 32 GB card by paying Rs 1000 extra
4. Android version (10/10): this I give 10 bec it is upgradable to JELLY BEEEAN (so it says on the box). even the shopkeeper was unaware of it
5. Camera (8/10): takes pretty sharp pics. much better than A700 (lots of grains). pics are sharper than even SGS2 when I saw on full zoom (much less grains and noise than SGS2). however, the pics are less bright so I give only 8/10. but I use a third party app (pixlr express) to make the appear brighter. Also pics are a bit over-saturated but acceptable. Records 1280 X 720 videos (720p)
6. Video playback (7/10): plays 720p videos very well but doesnt support full HD.
7. Sound quality (7/10): pretty clear sound during calls though spkr during calls not good. sound during video playback loud and clear.
8. Dual SIM (8/10): is dual standby. but both sim slots support 3G. sim 1 supports WCDMA also ( though I have not tried it)
9. benchmarks are same as A700 and can be seen on youtube video recently uploaded by someone. no lag felt during day-to-day use. Little lag I found was almost similar to SGS2. may become a bit laggy when lots of apps running in background. much less laggy than LG optimus 5
10. Games: temple run plays very well. others not tried yet.
11. Battery (8/10): lasts decent amount of time. after using it for a whole day during which talktime ( around 1 hr 30 min), wifi with surfing and downloads (1 hr 30 min), fiddling a lot with the settings (as it was first day), 20 % juice still remaining at the end of the day
Overall: just go for it. anyday better than A700 even for the extra money. thoroughly satisfied.
hope this review is useful. its my first review of any mobile but thought might as well do it since no detailed review was available for A800.

Abhyk is right!

I know about processors and chip sets and Mr. Abhyk here is 100% right.
The processor in this phone is not an Intel processor but a "Mediatek" instead. Its the Mediatek 6577 1Ghz dual-core to be precise. The 6577, though its based on the Arm v9 platform isn't nearly as powerful as the processors produced by Qualcomm, Samsung etc. They have this CPU on all the low-end dual cores out there, Be it the Micromax a110, a90s etc. They are not performers when it comes to graphics and are strictly meant only for basic Multimedia. The gaming performance will only be sub-par with the snapdragon single core powered handsets out there, with the aging adreno 200 GPU.

More about LAVA: LAVA doesn't produce their own smartphones. They don't even have a software R&D department(strangely, Micromax has one). They import Cheap chinese products and market those instead, Thats the reason you don't have their logo on the phone, While companies like Micromax and Karbonn atleast have the courtesy to do that.

Buying the phone means: you won't have any software updates and no support or assistance.

Wait until Q1 of January and you'll have an Intel powered budget friendly device for a cheaper price.

XOLO A800 WORTH IT OR NOT ?

FIRST OF ALL THIS PHONE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH INTEL ! ITS NOT AN INTEL PHONE. IT HAS MEDIATEK PROCESSOR SAME AS MICROMAX'S A110 CANVAS 2 , KARBONN A21 ETC ETC ETC. ALL PHONES, BE IT ANY (MICROMAX,LAVA,KARBONN ETC) IN THIS PRICE RANGE, HAS THE SAME PROCESSOR !! AND ARE MADE IN CHINA. ONLY BRANDED IN INDIA, THE STUFF WHICH IS NOT FOUND SIMILAR IN THESE PHONES (MM CANVAS 2, KARBONN A21, LAVA XOLO A800 ) ARE THE TOUCH SCREEN, SPEAKERS, CAMERA AND THE BUILD QUALITY. HERE IS THE COMPARISON BETWEEN CANVAS 2, KARBONN A21 XOLO A800 AND WHERE THESE PHONES ACE.

DISPLAY: XOLO A800= 4.5/5
CANVAS 2= 2.5/5
KARBONN A21 = 3.5/5

PROCESSOR(RAM & ROM)
XOLO A800= 3/5 (1GHZ,512 RAM)
CANVAS 2= 3/5 (1GHZ, 512 RAM)
KARBONN A21= 3/5 (1GHZ, 512 RAM)

CAMERA
XOLO A800= 3.5/5
KARBONN A21= 3.5/5
CANVAS 2= 3/5

BUILD QUALITY
XOLO A800= 4.5/5
KARBONN A21= 3.5/5
CANVAS 2= 3/5

SOUND
XOLO A800= 3.5/5
KARBONN A21= 3.5/5
CANVAS 2= 4/5

PRICE
XOLO A800= 4/5
KARBONN A21= 4.5/5
CANVAS 2= I WOULD HAVE GIVEN 4 BUT DUE TO ITS SHORTAGE, IT IS BEING SOLD IN BLACK FOR MORE THAN 10K FOR ABOUT 12K-12.5K SO 3/5

HOWEVER THE SCREEN SIZE OF CANVAS 2 IS THE LARGEST BUT ITS NOT AS GOOD AS XOLO A800 OR KARBONN A21. XOLO IS MUCH BETTER THAN KARBONN A21. XOLO'S DISPLAY IS CRISP AND COLOR IS MORE VIBRANT.
MICROMAX'S CANVAS 2 IS IN SO MUCH DEMAND BECAUSE OF THE ADVERTISEMENTS. NO OTHER PHONE COMPANY IS DISPLAYING THEIR ADDS ON TV ETC , SO PEOPLE ARE BLINDLY GOING FOR MICROMAX CANVAS 2. FEW ARE BUYING BECAUSE OF ITS LARGE SIZE, JUST TO FLAUNT :P

KARBONN'S AFTER SALE SERVICE IS NOT SO GOOD, WHERE AS LAVA GIVES DOOR TO DOOR SERVICE FOR ITS XOLO SERIES, WELL IT SAYS SO.
THE LAVA XOLO A800 DOES NOT HANG BUT DOES LAG SOME TIMES. LIKE WHEN YOU START TEMPLE RUN IT LAGS ONCE IN THE BEGINNING BUT NOT AFTER THAT. EVEN AFTER RESTART IT DOESN'T. MAY BE BECAUSE OF 512 RAM, CONSIDERING THIS ALL PHONES WITH 4+ SCREEN SIZE WILL LAG A BIT AND CANVAS 2 DOES LAG. IN THE END I WILL SAY THAT DON'T SECOND GUESS AND GO FOR THIS (XOLO A800) AND FORGET ABOUT CANVAS 2 AND IF YOU CAN WAIT AND PUSH YOUR BUDGET LIMIT FEW THOUSAND MORE, THEN DO CONSIDER CANVAS HD ( MICROMAX A116) . FOR NOW XOLO A800 IS MUCH MUCH BETTER THAN MICROMAX, KARBONN,SPICE AND IBALL.

I SPEND ALMOST 4 HRS FOR 3 DAYS AT THE MOBILE SHOP JUST TO DECIDE WHICH ONE SHOULD I BUY ( THAT'S HOW WASTED I AM :P ). I HAVE USED ALL THESE HANDSETS AND CONCLUSION IS XOLO A800.

Lava A800 - Not a Intel Phone

Guys
Xolo brand belongs to Lava Mobile not to Intel. It is true that Xolo A900 was the first phone with Intel mobile chips. But Xolo A800 is powered by MediaTek MT6577 1Ghz Dual Core processor not with Intel.

The good, the bad and the ugly of my new A800 Phone

In it's price range, A800 is a fabulous phone.

What goes in favour of this phone :

1. Its screen is comparable to any highend phone, Really good screen, bright, vivid with good contrast.
2. (4GB internal + 8GB SD card) memory should be sufficient for most people.
3. Phone has no lags, it is smooth and feels like a premium phone.
4. Many of my friends thought it was Galaxy S3 because its looks are similar

What are it's drawbacks

1. It's loud speaker is extremely low volume, you can hardly hear to your videos/songs without a head phone.
2. Camera even with BSI sensor is not very crisp. It gives brighter picture but not quality picture. But it is not a complete let down. For it's price range, it may be OK, but if you want quality photos, this is not your phone.
3. If you compare a700 and a800, the only difference is camera only and nothing else. Since a800 camera is not top notch, a700 could save you a lot of money, upto Rs 3000.

My Verdict:

A800 suffices the needs of most smart phone users. Infact, I would say it is a waste to spend Rs 25k+ on a phone when you can get extremely good quality phone at 12K. This phone has no real competitors in its price range, other than A700. All those Micromax, Karbonn etc with 5inch+ screens are mere waste if you want to see good resolution on the screen. The pixel density of this phone is highest when compared to all other budget smart phones, and this phone certainly gives you premium experience.

A Good Phone in this price range !!

Its a very nice phone
I got it for my mom last week n i spent sum time with it
i am a person who gives more importance to Performance and Screen display
So d phone didnt disappoint me

My review is as follows
1)Build- it feels pretty gud in ur hands its big and has a sleek design (compared to its overall size) but d metallic material near d camera luks a bit cheap
2)Screen- The screen is just awesome a 4.5 inch wid a brilliant resolution is crisp and vivid
3)Camera- Not dat gud, but i dont care abt d camera so though its 8MP it s picture Quality is lyk 5MP which sufficient for normal pictures
under low light its not dat gud i compared its camera wid HTC one V n one V cam is much better though its just 5MP
4)Gaming- For gamers who want gud gaming device at loww cost can go for this device
I playd Temple run n it runs smooth enough(not very smooth as in IPad) and NFS most wantd playd very smoothly
So it has a pretty decent GPU
5)UI- its just stock UI so cant expect nythin new
6)Battery- i didnt observe d battery that much but it will definitly last for a day on heavy usage cuz i playd NFS most wantd for almost an hour n d WiFi ws on but d change in battery level ws very less almost negligible

Finally , i hv sum things dat i didnt lyk abt d phn
Its d vibration its very weak n vibration durin touch feedbak is very bad fells very cheap
and loud speaker is bad it has very low volume (but who listens to music in loud speaker)

Finally , its a very gud phn but the price cud hv been around 10.5k
So ppl can go fr it u r willin to spend lil bit more wait for a week or 2 MMX canvas HD is on d way

good buy at interesting price

Well..writing a review for this phone, I got this phone on the 17th of jan,
the specs are pretty decent for the price tag.I know people don't like to spend too much time on reviews so I'll go straight to the pros and cons
Pro's-
1.The screen is smooth and colourful. the display is decent with qHD resolution and IPS display technology .
2.Dual core 1Ghz processor gives very smooth reponse and I didn't notice any lag anytime.
3.Battery life is good with a full charge going for more than a day with wifi and moderate. gaming and calls
4.dual sim functionality is simple and easy to use.
5.Android ICS is great though Its basically raw without any changes put in by the manufacturer ,also Its upgradable to jelly bean (not sure about this as It Was mentioned Only in the packing )
6.Internet browsing is amazing, very smooth and also pinching and zooming works like a
charm.Typing is easy as well as I am typing the review from my phone.
7.Speakers are moderately loud
8.The phone looks really nice in white, and plastic quality is also good

Cons
1.The Android keyboard you get with the phone is basic, so you will have to keep saving every word you type in the beggining for being predicted the next time. I found It annoying.
2.The camera quality is Just okay. There are quite a few options but still the picture quality could have been better.
3.If you put in photos with higher resolutions than the screen, while viewing this due to rendering problems I presume, the colour in a part of the pictures dissappears
4.Sound quality is Just above average, I used to use a sony before, and Maybe cause I listen to careful details in Music I found It dissappointing.
5.Pre installed apps in the phone are less, also the pre installed apps for music and videos are below average.
6.The headset you get with the set is absolutely pathetic ,can Only be used for calls and not for listening to music as the quality is really bad. Let down on the part of xolo.

Overall If you don't mind much about extreme music quality and taking professional class pictures, the rest is great and It is well priced. Good buy ultimately for those who want performance at a cheap price:)

Gr8 phone but bad battery life plus worst service support ever

I have bought this phone 1 month before and here are pros and cons:

Pros:

1) Great body build and screen resolution
2) A dual core processor with great hardware
3) Smooth touch and screen resolution. An HD display. Good to see movies and videos.

Cons:

1) No service center available where we can physically take the handset. As far as i am concerned no after sales support exists since i have been trying to call/mail then since last 20 days or so since i am not able to download anything from google playstore but absolutely no response. Not even an acknowledgment of my mails received. Have tried each and everything. That disappoints.

2)The phone lags sometimes and get hanged and misbehaves after just 1 month of use.

3) The battery life is decent and average. In normal use the phone will last 1 and half days else in hardcore use of surfing and playing games the battery wont last even a day. I tried updating its software but i got an error halfway. Awaiting xolo guys response since last 20 days but no response or any calls.

4) The camera is good to use in daylight but in dark the pictures arent that gr8 even if you use flash.

5) The screen is super sensitive. You will notice scratches no matter how careful you be. Even a minute dust particle can leave a big scratch on your screen. Not sure if its due the screen guard or actual screen which causes this.

6) The music player is average. Not sure if i need to replace the earphone or the actual music player is average.

7) The phone heats up every now and then after just 1 minute of heavy use.

I would have given a rating of 4 or 4.5 had the after sales service been good. But as i said the after sales service is just disappointing with no service centers outside Noida. Heard that they have pick up and drop service for handset repairs but have a doubt since i am not getting simple reply to emails or calls.
