What Young India Wants is a compilation of Chetan Bhagat’s essays and speeches on India, its youth, its society, culture and politics. It also contains his ideas of what is needed to take the country forward, and what he thinks the youth of the country want.
Summary Of The Book
After writing some successful novels, Chetan Bhagat penned his first nonfiction work. This book contains all his hopes and dreams, and his fears and anxieties about India. What Young India Wants is divided into three sections, the first titled Our Society. In this, he looks at various aspects of Indian society and also does a comparison between Indian and American societies. He also goes into the issues of religion, terrorism, and caste differences.
The second section is Politics. He discusses corruptions and other major issues, and gives his ideas on the constructive measures that need to be taken to tackle these issues. He also includes an essay in support of Anna Hazare and his movement. The third section is Our Youth. This section looks at the young people of India in the current scenario, and explains what their dreams and aspirations are. He writes on topics like brain drain, the need for educational system reforms, and the communication gap between the old and new generation.
What Young India Wants also contains two short stories. It presents his ideas on what needs to change and in some cases he also suggests how these changes can be brought about. This book is a reflection of the author’s concern for the future of his motherland and its youth. It expresses his thoughts on the things that have to be done to make the dream of a dynamic and strong India possible in the near future.

Bold title, blonde text. Not good, not for those who prefer serious reading, as a famous columnist and all that he is expected to give more detailing to each topic, this is just a loose collection of some words put together, if the detailing was more in depth, would have made more sense, good for people who have never picked up newspapers or magazines but those who are aware with the ongoings around will find nothing new, lame examples too, I mean kareena kapoor from jab we met?, there are better people and better examples mr Bhagat, The most disappointing book by him so far.

Crap!Well... if going by the way people have positively responded to his writings, I must say what he says is true. The young India wants crap and Mr. Bhagat delivers it the best. This is the same young India that patronized Sheela ki Jawani and Munni Badnam Huyi.. the same young India which is aimless and clueless... which is all about glamorizing the routine mundanes on FB... the same young India which read Mr. Bhagat to show off their friends that they too can read English novels... for whatever English and reading has come to stand for...and the one which resides in the ghettos (yes, I am using… (Expand)

Drab, although raises the right pointsChetan Bhagat, like many other bestselling authors, does not deserve all the accolades that he gets. This book is a solid remainder of how mediocre his writing skills are. Although the points he raises are epic, noteworthy, and do seem heartfelt, his writing skills kill any solid interest in the matters he talks about. If there is any blood-boiling patriotism or urge to change our country that rises from this book, it is not because of the author's excellence in conveying his point, but the inner understanding that the readers have of what he says. It was difficult to gather enough momentum to… (Expand)

Worst Reading ExperienceHi friends first of all please don't buy this book. This book is totally a crap, i still not able to complete it. Dear Chetan stop showing in your books that if your are not an IITian/IIMian than you are a LOOSER. Now your novels more looks like cheap hindi bollywood films. I guess you are now on your maturity point and your decline starts.
