  • Description

Zero Percentile is an intoxicating novel on the life and adventures of Pankaj—seemingly not one of the children of destiny—spanning across the vastly different countries of India and Russia.

Life has always been carefree for Pankaj, a brilliant young boy who is convinced that his destiny lies in IIT.  A cruel accident, however, sends him to a place he has never heard of before: Volgograd, the Russian ‘City of Heroes’, a pivotal player in stopping Hitler’s assault on Russia during the Second World War.

Life in Volgograd is very different. Brawn is prized over brain, and Pankaj winds up in prison after a brawl with the powerful and aggressive boys who share his hostel. Determined to avenge himself, he masterminds a coup, which only succeeds in making an enemy of his dean who becomes hell-bent on destroying it. His seniors conspire to ruin him as well, and bring in the local mafia. In addition, he has to cope with the pressure on him to lose his virginity, as well as the agony of his best friend being diagnosed with HIV.

Pankaj valiantly takes up the gauntlet to fight all his adversities, and briefly emerges victorious before succumbing to his greatest adversity yet: love.

He is currently employed with a software company in India. His single claim to literary honours is a ‘Highly Commendable’ certificate in Class X in an English Essay Competition organised by the Royal Commonwealth Society and he himself was surprised to be the only one in New Delhi to have received it that year in his category. He could perhaps have done more but the pressure of succeeding professionally and earning bread made him turn away from writing. This is his first book. And if you like it, he promises, there would be a lot more.

    A different thing

Rupa actually proves why itâ??s best when it comes to contemporary novel. Damn! Itâ??s just an awesome book. Hats off to Mr. Neeraj Chhibba. However, Iâ??m bit disappointment that the book is not doing well unlike the other Rupa Books. Of course, the cover and the title is just not that appealing but main thing is just there in right proportion. Secondly, most of the story is based in Russia and readers are not interested exploring the foreign world but the book is really greatly written.
    Tho...

    Zero percentile; a curious novel.

Pankaj, Priya and Motu are childhood friends. Pankaj is destined to go to IIT, expected to achieve 1st rank in JEE i.e. 100 percentile. But fate makes him zero percentile and lands him in Volvograd, USSR whereas Motu goes to IIT.

USSR is a completely different country. Good people, lot of fun, everything in short supply, extreme cold, uncertainties, student groupizm & mafia.

Does Pankaj survive? Does he find just girls or love? How does he perform academically? Is he reunited wi...

    A laugh riot

A simple tale of a young man discovering life in his own way with hilarious turns, sentiments, tears and wisdom thrown in. The Russian ambiance is an interesting one as we have only had spy thrillers till now. Never an academic(?) adventure. A good read, simple in text and lots to chuckle about with your buddies.
