Summary of the Book

When Takaki Tohno is transferred to her new school, she quickly manages to befriend Akari Shinohara. They learn that they both have similar interests and attitudes, and this draws them towards each other. One of the things that is common between them is that they both prefer to stay indoors during recess. This results in them creating a strong bond with each other. However, friendship and love is not something that lasts so easily when it is a long-distance relationship. This is what happens when Akari moves to Tochigi when their school year ends. They try to keep in touch as much as they can, but will they be able to be regularly in touch for long?

About Makoto Shinkai

Makoto Shinkai is a Japanese director of anime and a former graphic designer. He studied Japanese literature at the Chuo University and was a member of the juvenile literature club where he drew picture books. This brought about his passion to manga, anime and novels that he was exposed to during middle school.
