From jugaad to Innovation

there are lot of books in strategic management but this book provides a unique Indian context of SM, its full of case studies and the authors make their point in a convincing manner. Innovation is stressed as the key to excellence and the way to excel in market competition. Its a nice compilation of the many cases in india from the not so very neatly organized Rural enterprises to the systematic I.T., all at one place.

You too can be an innovator

Innovation is a buzz word. Most of us think that 'real' innovation is something creative minds do in a unique setting and that our situations are too bureaucratic and our managers too rigid and our responsibilities too big for us to take risks like 'innovation'.

This book will make you rethink such assumptions. It has real life stories of innovation happening in settings similar to ours - done by ordinary people like you and me.

The backdrop varies from dusty Indian villages to silicon v...

Self Help : Developing Innovative Culture & Mindset

Innovation, now tops most widely read topic by business professionals. It seems innovation is the only insurance against existence & to stay relevant. This applies equally to a professional career as it applies to enterprise. There are several books on this subject that provides holistic deployment methodology at a conceptual level. With only conceptual understanding, it is not always easy to develop an approach & initiate a deployment process, especially as a cultural change initiative. This...

Not a good book to buy !

While this Book received a lot of good reviews from a lot of people i know at IIM Bangalore . I even got a couple of mails with regards to the quality of this book from a lot of people. It seems everything was more of a marketing gimmick. If you are a well read person. You will find hardly anything new or innovative in this book. A compilation of innovation by a host of companies with hardly any research just global gyan . To be avoided if you are actually looking to innovate .

An insightful guide for Indian Innovation Managers

As I read the book over the last one week, I felt as if I was talking to Vinay and Rishi in person. The book is filled with the insights that the authors have gained from their rich career in consulting (Vinay) and teaching (Rishi) Innovation. It is an absolute treat to read this book.

The book is structured in three parts (a) how to build an idea pipeline (b) how to improve idea velocity and (c) how to increase batting average. The book gives a practical approach to managing innovative ide...

An approach to innovation in Indian context!

Now one more book on innovation is not exactly an innovative idea - but I picked up the book because the blurb promised an absorbing read. The book indeed lived up to its promise. Illustrated with numerous examples from Indian industry, various workshops; the authors logically build a case for their approach without making it pedantic.

There is this beautiful metaphor of ' the elephant and the rider ' - signifying the power of organization and relative smallness of leader directing it. ...

Good book giving great insight into Innovation!

I have been through multiple "IT" companies over the last 20 years, both MNCs, where the customer is far away, and in "purely Indian companies" where the customer is nearer. In both these types, there are different kinds of challenges when looking for some original R&D work to do. What is it that we are missing? Why is it that not all our products reach the market and give us lots of profits? Many of such questions were cleared when I started going through this book. This book is an interest...

A lucid narrative on innovation

I have just read the book - 8 steps to Innovation -- Going from Juggad to Excellence authored by Vinay Dabholkar & Rishikesh Krishnan and recently published by Harper Collins in India.

Vinay is my son and I had curiosity to see what exactly has been written in this book which is actually meant for modern managers of highly technocratic corporate world. And therefore I was a little scared while reading this book whether I would understand what has been stated there as I was mostly connected w...
