This book answers every possible question that contemporary readers might have about Lord Ganesha. Based on ancient scriptures, mythology, Vedic and tantric teachings, and even temple folklore, this book offers comprehensive details about Ganesha. It narrates stories and explains the reasons behind his alternate names. The section titled Representations covers the thirty-two forms of the Lord, including Maha Ganapati, Shakti Ganapati, Ucchista Ganapati, and Lakshmi Ganapati. Pattanaik also narrates how the God ended up with the head of an elephant.

Dr. Devdutt Pattanaik is an Indian physician, writer and leadership consultant. A graduate of Grant Medical College, Mumbai, he worked in Pharma for fourteen years before moving on to a career in writing. He is the author of several other books including Myth = Mithya: A Handbook of Hindu Mythology, The Pregnant King and Jaya: An Illustrated Retelling of the Mahabharata.
