Acclaimed as one of the major achievements in the fantasy mystery genre, Game Of Thrones: A Song Of Ice And Fire (Book- 1) TV Tie-in Edition is the first book of George R. R. Martin’s immensely popular series, A Song of Ice and Fire.

    Summary Of The Book

Full of adventure, mystery, intrigue, and romance, Game Of Thrones: A Song Of Ice And Fire (Book- 1) TV Tie-in Edition is a fitting opening to one of the most popular fantasy fiction series. The book contains supernatural elements which revolve around the seasons which last decades. The summer is ending and winter is fast approaching. As the cold is on its way back, it is bringing along with it deadly forces. Beyond the protective walls of the kingdom, in the frozen wastes, supernatural forces are making their way to the world of men.

In this battle for the throne, replete with death, plunder, tragedy, betrayal, terror, and treachery, two families take centre stage, the Starks and the Lannisters. Lord Eddard Stark, the newly appointed ‘Hand’ of King Robert, has to defend the Iron throne. What happens to King Robert? What does Ned Stark discover that makes him the enemy of the Queen? Will Sansa Stark marry Joffrey? Who is Daenerys Targaryen and how will her actions affect Westeros? This fantasy adventure tale, which takes place in a land of magic, dragons, and supernatural creatures, keeps readers spellbound till the very end.

Published in 1996, Game Of Thrones: A Song Of Ice And Fire (Book- 1) TV Tie-in Edition became a New York Times bestseller. The novel received the Locus Award, the Hugo Award, and the Ignotus Award. It was also nominated for the World Fantasy Award and the Nebula Award. The series was adapted into an HBO television series, which premiered in 2011.

~The Best Book for Fantasy Fiction Fans~

The best book in the fantasy fiction genre.

I found it really simple to read not as tough as LOTR ...or The Wheel of Time! The plot, the theme or call it the storyline ~> you will be surprised. A definite page turner with lots of twists and turns ... I'm so happy to read it first and then watched the HBO 10 episodes on this one later :) :) :)

Highly recommended to all fantasy fiction fans. I heard the series won couple of awards too...

Now looking forward to read the second part ...

    Value-for-money

Writing a review on this masterpiece is really difficult. The book only takes one's breath away. In details description of wars, chivalry, bravery & fighting charm us to no extent. With this the perfectly knitted world of fantasy & unexpected twists and turns only make you want more. So buy it, sit down & start reading. The tv series won't give u that pleasure which the book will give u.

    Absolutely worth it.

I'm a fan of fantasy. And a fan of the GoT series. I never thought I'd be a person who tries the book after the series/movies. But I think this is the only exception where it doesn't matter which you do first.
The book was mindblowing, and every page is worth the money. This paperback was pretty sturdy, and didn't come apart in the first reading, despite its thickness.
The paper quality is above average, and the font size is readable. However the bulky yet small book is a tad inconvenient to ...

    The Modern Genius

Being a Lord of the Rings fan I was very excited about reading the Game of Thrones- given, that maps in books had always been a keen aspect that I looked forward to. The words in this book were so beautiful that one could be as creative as a rock and yet be able to imagine what George Martin wants you to see.
However, I realised that unlike the great Tolkien and his intricate descriptions, George Martin had brought reality into fiction. It was no longer all good against all bad. As you go ...

One of the rare and effortless reads...!!!

After Harry potter and Inheritance(Christopher Paolini) series I was looking for some quality fiction series and "A song of Ice and Fire" is just that series.

Writing is very lucid, engaging. You will not get bored while reading. I saw HBO series as well. Trust me, the TV series is very good but it does not make justice to the books. The way author portrays each and every character(especially John, Arya, Tyrion, Daenerys) is commendable.

One of the best thing I liked about the book is it i...

    A Game Worth Playing

Samit Basu described this as a Western Mahabharat and I found myself agreeing fervently. Dynasties plot and war against each other in Westeros while an exiled and the only descendant of House Targaryen plans to return and have her vengeance, set in a world with extreme climate cycles and supernatural beings. With characters you begin liking and rooting for as well as those you start detesting immediately, along with a few who do not reveal their true intentions till the end, this book is a de...

    The New Tolkien...

George RR Martin says that he is building the series 'brick by brick'. This is complex fantasy world-building on a grand scale. If Tolkien was the pioneer, then GRRM is the new gold standard. The characters are well-etched, the situations believable and the writing simply flows. GRMM draws the reader in and doesn't let go. The series is still developing and the HBO series is already a huge hit attracting more fans to GRRM's magical world. Highly recommended for readers of general fiction and...
