I bought this book a month ago. At that time Flipkart had the book published by Bantam. Initially I was sorry for the paper quality, but when I started reading the book, the paper quality became second priority. The story is very well written. Fairly new form of narration. Parental guidance advised while buying for children for some intense scenes/story lines. Recommended for ages 15+.

Hopefully the Harper Collins edition has better paper.

The story and the content of the book needn't be explained. This is one of the best epic fantasy books that you can find.
However, I felt like the quality of the paper in the bantam books is way too inferior. I got this copy because I didn't want the TV series cover. I guess it would've been better with the TV series cover. Either ways, I'm good with handling books cause I'm very psychotically caring towards books.

This book is a great book. I came to know about this book through the TV Series. This book is very engaging right from the prologue and manages to drag that excitement till the end. This book must be read at least once. If you are planing to see the TV show then I suggest reading this book first.

Hand on my heart,I will say this is the most wonderful novel I have read till now.R.R.Martin surely knows the pulse of the readers.The way he introduced each character is itself amazing.As the story goes you would fall in love with one character or the other.The way he describes transforms you into a different world rather to a world of kings,kingdoms and knights.

High fantasy. Well developed characters. Gripping and absorbing storyline! This book is by far the best! I have just completed reading it and have ordered the second part :)
The HBO series does justice to the book. The story hasn't been changed....most of the dialogues are same too :)

I read this after watching 4 seasons on HBO. So I was apprehensive about whether I will get bored reading the same thing that I've already watched. But I was proved wrong. The book is very descriptive so it creates a deeper feel about what each character is thinking in each situation, something that doesn't happen in the TV show. Read it before watching the TV series or after, but do read it if you are a Game of Thrones fan.
