One Of The Brightest Minds Of The Last Century, Sisir Kumar Das (1936-2003) Straddled Kolkata And London In His Youth And Spent Most Of His Working Years In Delhi. He Retired As The Tagore Professor Of Bengal And Head Of The Modern Indian Languages In 2001. He Received The Bengal Government’S Rabindra Puraskar Twice. His Major Books Include Early Bengali Prose, The Shadow Of The Cross And The Artist In Chains. Das’S Wide Range Of Interests Finds A Place In His Work. He Also Translated Aristotle’S Poetics In Bengali From The Original Greek.
