Description

Watch Hercule Poirot match his wits against 12 impossible cases in The Labours of Hercules, a short story collection by Agatha Christie.

Summary of the Book

Hercule Poirot is growing old. His grey cells aren’t decaying, but he knows that no man can escape the call of old age. Like the Hercules of legend, he decides to take on 12 self-imposed “labours”, 12 cases to test his mettle once and for all before he calls it quits. However, despite the little Belgian detective’s overwhelming confidence, has he finally aged so much that his grey cells have begun to fail him? Can he really solve these 12 mind-boggling cases? Will this modern day Hercules survive the effects of these labours, or will he fall short of his namesake? Find out in this suspense-filled book from Agatha Christie!

Poirot does a Hercules!!

This should be somewhere between 25-50 %ile of Christie's books. Not really a bad collection of stories. But then, Christie had set herself a high benchmark and this book does not really succeed in matching the high expectations readers generally have of the writer.

The Greek connotation is interesting though 'Hercule Poirot is nothing like the legendary hero Hercules'. You can go for this if you are done with the other Christie masterpieces.
