Microsoft and Ensemble studios which is also owned by the computer giant have collaborated in the making of the award winning series of games by the name of Age Of Empires. The game has always been a favorite with all the fans of the city building franchise. Picking up from where the classic AoE dropped off, Age Of Empires III (Gold Edition) deals with the same city building aspects coupled with colonization and conquest of other lands.
The Age Of Empires III (Gold Edition) PC game has several new additions and innovations that were not present in the versions before it. The Gold Edition also comes with Age Of Empires III The War Chiefs expansion pack. The addition of the Home City concept is something that is a definitive improvement on the previous versions of the game. The Home City is your parent city from where you have arrived to explore. It is independent of the game in a way such that it cannot be conquered or destroyed by your opponents. Age Of Empires III and all its previous versions of the game are real-time strategy and role playing games. The game has a PEGI rating of 12.
The gameplay involves the player constructing a town centre by way of a wagon, which can convert into a permanent building in the game. Once the building has been put up, resources appear around it which can be gathered by villagers and placed in storage. Each player must then commence building more buildings and exploring the area around in order to gather more resources and experience. The experiences and resources can either be used for summoning shipments from the Home City or can be used to upgrade various aspects of your civilization. The overall upgrade to a civilization is achieved through Ages, like Discovery Age and Fortress Age as examples.
Each new Age provides access to new technologies that can be researched and implemented in gameplay. Achieving these timely research milestones gives the player advantages over the opponents as better technology leads to better forms of economic growth and advanced weaponry. The Industrial Age triggers a strong economic growth by way of factories which can be used for setting up a steady cash flow, resources or military implements.
Gathering resources is very important as advancing through the ages requires both food and coin. Each Age advancement also grants the player the choice of a noted politician to go along with it. Every politician has a special gift or bonus that goes along with them. Age Of Empires III allows you to play as 8 different civilizations like the Spanish, British, French, Dutch, Portuguese, German, Ottoman and Russian. Every civilization has its own set of strengths and weaknesses. AoE is a must have for all hardcore strategy gamers.
