Search of new paths to excellence have always been the endeavour of all developmental activists. Engineering is, since, the prime mover of development of different technologies and infrastructure, it own continuous improvement over past practices has been a constant subject of study and investigation by engineer’s and management consultants. Agile Engineering, in this regard, in a new management concept. It aims to strike at the root of various bottlenecks and holdups which have, since, become customarily an established managerial practices, to make enterprises free, in order to allow it a quantum leap forward. The conference on “Agile Engineering : Search of new path to excellence” organized by Department of Production Engineering, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi, on October 4th and 5th, is a modest attempt to provide a platform for intelligent interaction of ideas and views of experts from the field of academics, as well as, from industries to highlight what makes an enterprise agile. The conference was structured into five technical sessions in addition to inaugural, plenary and valedictory, sessions. The papers selected for each technical session was based on the thematic contents. The purpose behind the publication of proceedings of the conference is to make its availability easier to wider cross-section of readers, individually or through libraries or institutions, for furture reference.
