Your first change seems to be m item 9, where you have dropped one assistant superintendent of seed warehouse at $1,400 and changed him to a clerk of class 2, which is shown in item 18, page 53. Dr. Taylor. That is merely a change in title, Mr. Chairman, and involves no change in compensation. And the title is changed so as to make it more accurate and to fit the type of service that the employee is rendering. Mr. Anderson. We are not going to be asked to appropriate for an assistant superintendent of seed warehouse the next tune? Dr. Taylor. No. The Chairman. I notice immediately following one seed warehouseman at $1,020 changed to one clerk at $1,020? Dr. Taylor. That is of identical character, due to the fact that the position is clerical and hence the change of the title. The Chairman. What does a seed warehouseman do? Why was he ever called a warehouseman in the first place? Dr. Taylor. He, I think, first entered the service by taking the examination for seed warehouseman. He is one of the employees who has to do with the congressional seed distribution. But his present and prospective service is clerical in character. The Chairman.
