  • Description

Algorithm Design introduces algorithms by looking at the real-world problems that motivate them. The book teaches students a range of design and analysis techniques for problems that arise in computing applications. The text encourages an understanding of the algorithm design process and an appreciation of the role of algorithms in the broader field of computer science.

    Salient Features

    • Focus on problem analysis and design techniques.
    • Discussion is grounded in concrete problems and examples rather than abstract presentation of principles, with representative problems woven throughout the text.
    • Over 200 well crafted problems with several coming from companies such as Yahoo!® and Oracle®. Each problem has been class tested for usefulness and accuracy in the authors' own undergraduate algorithms courses.
    • Broad coverage of algorithms for dealing with NP-hard problems and the application of randomization, increasingly important topics in algorithms

Every CS guy needs this book.

Bought this book only for my graduate studies, had done UG with CLRS, right now lamenting that I did not buy it earlier, The book is just amazing, see there are very few books that actually gets across the intuition behind an algorithm, like this book. CLRS seems like a reference book in comparison with this. The good thing with this book is that it is a great book for self study as well. And moreover the problems given as exercises are also few of the best I have seen, if someone spends the ...

    Excellent book

    -Crystal clear explanation.
    -All important topics covered.
-Very indulging way of arriving at the solution.

All in all a must buy for all programmers. I found it better than CLRS for understanding the algorithm rather than just stating and writing pseudocode.

    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

    Really good book

This is definitely a good book. Unlike CLRS this is not a dictionary of algorithms, instead teaches algorithms in a thought provoking and constructive way through nice examples. A sure buy if you're in for competitive programming.

    very engrossing book

Extremely good book on algorithms, definitely more approachable than fabled CLRS.
If you want to learn about algorithms in depth on your own, this is surely a go to book

Bad quality of paper and binding

The quality of paper is so bad that I can see the text in the other side of the page.

The binding is done is a way that there is too much margin on the outer side of the page while some of the text is inside the bind making it very difficult to read.
