    Description

In The All Bengali Crime Detectives by Suparna Chatterjee, an unexpected turn of events leads a group of four retired men to investigate a crime. Not only do they have to solve the mystery but they also have to catch the criminal before it’s too late.

    Summary Of The Book

Nothing much can be expected from the peaceful neighborhood of Kolkata where only middle-class families reside. However, the lives of four men change drastically when a sudden crime takes place in their neighborhood.

The All Bengali Crime Detectives by Suparna Chatterjee narrates the story of four misfit detectives who are hot on the trail of a criminal. The crime committed is not as straightforward as it seems. As the novel progresses, the four realize that something dangerous is going to occur if they do not catch the perpetrator on time.

The boring lives of these four retired men change completely when they follow the trail of the criminal in hopes of solving the crime before it is too late. Besides the crime, the novel also introduces the subplots of the fair Bengali girl about to be married off, the competition with the neighborhood clubs for the best Durga Puja pandal, and the problems created by a jobless Romeo-like figure.

The author provides a light and hilarious account of the daily lives of the Bengali people, their eccentricities, and their love for food and people. This book is meant for readers of all ages and cultures.

Not too great, Not too bad.

Being a Bengali the cover name had me from the beginning. This is a nice book, the author knowing exactly what to write to make the average Bengali smirk. The mystery itself or more precisely the solution to the mystery is quite good(especially considering this is the author's first detective book). Suparna Chatterjee has skil-fully blended in the emotions and conflicts of today's 'para society' with lives of those who make it.However at parts it gets a but stodgy, for instance recalling the ...

    Thoroughly enjoyed this book

Thoroughly enjoyed reading the book. A true picture of Bengalis of Kolkata has been given in the book, be it the Durga puja or the adda sessions. Its as if the reader gets to live in Kolkata through the book. I look forward to reading some more from the same writer about Kolkata.

A good read for those long flights

The book flows gently with all characters that we see in our family and neighborhood with a generous sprinkling of robbery and crime-solving adventures. Makes for an enjoyable read and particularly for Bengali's, it might kindle some nostalgia about their place as the story has a lot of Bengal flavour thrown in.

    A quick read

A fluffy read. Good for a journey. Nothing to bite into. I suppose this is a first book by the author. Maybe the next one would be better. Was looking at some interesting back-drops of the city to entwine with the story, but those are lacking.
