With the thought that multiple modes of assessment are needed to cater to the varied abilities of individual strengths of learners, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has come up with the concept of Open Text Based Assessment (OTBA). The new concept is meant to develop higher order thinking skills and analytical abilities, thus banishing the rote learning concept. This book has been designed for Class 11th Geography March 2014 examination. The question paper for OTBA will have a separate section of 10 marks for which the schools have been supplied with textual material. This book has been divided into two themes covered by the CBSE for Geography March 2014 examination. Theme 1 covers Indian summer Monsoon and The Himalayan Tsunami and Theme 2 covers Krakatau Volcano: Fear of East Indies. Each theme covers sets of in text questions, CBSE sample questions, additional exam questions, suggested activities as well as list of important terms related to the theme. The OTBA will have questions of higher order thinking skills and value based questions. This is the only book giving the detailed study of CBSE Text Material having analysis of Open Text Material along with explanation of key terms, graphs, tables, etc. the book also contains more suggestive questions, subjective questions, creative and open ended questions based on the given text material. Also for interactive study of CBSE text material for Geography, in text questions of the similar nature as will be there in OTBA have been covered in the book. Answers to sample questions provided by CBSE have been given as per the CBSE prescribed outlines.
