With the thought that multiple modes of assessment are needed to cater to the varied abilities of individual strengths of learners, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has come up with the concept of Open Text Based Assessment (OTBA). The new concept is meant to develop higher order thinking skills and analytical abilities, thus banishing the rote learning concept.
