This is not the best processor but of course best at its cost. Someone called mr Biju has give so many lectures on bench marking from anandtech website. Let me tell him something. Tom's hardware is better than anandtech in every aspect to compare bench markings. And the most important thing is that Mr. Biju for got the price tag of core i7 2600.
This is obvious that core does not tell the story. Believe me friend I am not fan of AMD, but I really tell the truth.

its been more than 10 years i have been using amd and asus combi. and i have my own business of computer assembly and peripherals also i have sold amd 10 times more than intel on a trust that it is the best ! Don't confuse about to buy the processor Intel or AMD. Intel can beat the AMD by a few point variation score only.If Intel done a work in 30 seconds, AMD done the same task within 25 or above 25 seconds.Time is very important but the quality is very important than the time.Go and check any benchmark see the quality of the out which was done by AMD.
