    Description

American Gods is an urban fantasy novel by Neil Gaiman.

    Summary of the Book

When Shadow is released from prison and heads home, the last thing he expects to see is the funeral of his wife. He’s even more shocked to discover that she had been sleeping with his best friend. He meets a mysterious man called Mr. Wednesday on the plane, and accepts a job as his bodyguard. Mr. Wednesday knows a lot more about Shadow’s life than he lets on, and for some reason, his friends seem to be stranger than he is. When he discovers that Mr. Wednesday is none other than the Norse God Odin, he realizes that he has gotten into matters more macabre than he can comprehend. What Wednesday has in store for the world is a war between the old gods and the new gods, and that could change the world forever.

It is more than a book...

It is said in an interview with Gaiman in the book, that he was pleasantly surprised with the awards and recognition he got for this book... Well, I would say to Mr. Gaiman that he was right and he did not deserve any award he got for this... He deserves so much more...
Taking up characters from myths all over the world and giving them depth that would put the Marcel Cinematic Universe stick-figures to shame is something only an out-of-world mind such as Neil Gaiman could achieve... With a pl...

    Real Fantasy

Gaiman has an imagination unlike any. He takes you into the psyche of a country, of a world really, who have long forgotten their gods and embraced new ones. It's a brilliant social commentary spread over a magical book in a manner which is quite stunning and rivetting.
Gaiman is a wizard. My review of this book is simply a means to express my awe.

    Meet all the gods.

Its a journey through america, and along the way you will meet a number of gods. The novel is a bit lengthy, but it always gives the impression of epicness. Brilliantly written.

    Wonderful Read.

Excellent book. First Neil Gaiman novel I've read, and it makes for an interesting read. Offers a new and different perspective to the idea of God and their functions. Would recommend this book to anyone interested in fantasy and/or mythology.
