"You want a story and i will give you one"

This book was a highly anticipated book for me, I preordered it months in advance. I have read both his earlier works and so for me it is certainly his 'least best' of the three.
I didn't like the way different characters speak in first person and Also because of dealing with so many characters and so many different periods of time, the author is unable to reach out in depth for any of the main characters.
I found myself skimming paragraphs just to get to...

Wonderful book but a Warning for other buyers

This a fantastic piece of literature. Its awesome. It's nicely written and every word will really keep the reader in an imaginary world which shows the life of a loving brother and his sister. The novelist ,i.e, Khaled Hosseini has really created another marvel by writing this book. He will keep arising your emotions throughout the story and you will never feel it is very long or something of that sort. On gross I must say this is a wonderful book
The warning as I mentioned in the titl...

The saga of human relations

Third in the series of some fantastic piece of writing by Hosseini, this book traces the journeys of a brother and sister through years. The plot of the book is slightly crowded at places but the emotional content is par excellence.

In particular, the character of Nila brings out the paradox between modernity and tradition in the Afghan society. Though the story is set in war ravaged Afghanistan, it relates beautifully to any of the developing countries, including India.

While the book c...

Disheartened this time..

I have read Khaled Hosseini's previous work with intrigue and interest. This time however his book has disappointed me. Truly speaking, the book is completely pointless.

It begins as an insightful story of a brother and sister in the country of Afghanistan. After a few chapters, it brings in detailed accounts of unnecessary characters and makes the story tiring. Halfway through the book, the story rapidly increases its pace, forgets the main characters and makes the reader wander aimlessly ...

heartbreak and hope

Captivating and affecting . . . A masterful and compassionate storyteller, Hosseini traces the traumas and scarring of tyranny, war, crime, lies, and illness in the intricately interconnected, heartbreaking, and transcendent lives of his vibrantly realized characters to create a grand and encompassing tree of life.

Decent product

No doubt Khaled Hosseini has not failed his readers with his master story telling. He has once casted a magic with his strong characters and magnificent description of Afghanistan . Hence once again proved himself as one of the best writers. He touches the deepest core of your heart with his story.
But was very upset with the quality . Its not a original but a copy . Flipkart must provide the displayed .

There's more to the book, apart from Pari and Abdullah..

Beautifully written - Khaled style. A sure page-turner.
It is definitely a must read, very emotional at certain instances.

The next sentence is a SPOILER!

It's a story about two siblings - Pari and her older brother Abdullah and how life changes when the two get separated.

However, the synopsis at the cover page of the book is a little deceptive - it revolves a lot more on other characters as well, not just Pari and Abdullah.

Saboor, Parwana, Masooma, Nabi, Nila & Sulaiman Wahdati, Marko...

Khaled has been hugely dissapointing..!!

I have been a great admirer of Khaled since the time of "Kite Runner" and" Thousand Splendid Suns" but this latest novel does not even cross the benchmark to be tagged as a decent book at least. No doubt, he is a gifted story-teller but this time it seems he had a lot of things on his mind and in desperation to tell people a story he has pieced together around 8 to 10 different stories in a frivolous fashion and what has come out is some kind of "Bollywood Masala". Small portions of this no...

"sometimes to save the hand you must sacrifice a finger"

The most awaited book of 2013 starts with a story embedded in a small village in Kabul and then makes it journey to Paris, Tinos and San Francisco.
Hosseini makes a brilliant attempt to create the same magic he earlier did with Thousand Splendid Suns but fails miserably. This book is a confused series of tales binding each other in the most un-imaginable ways. It is only the use of Hosseini's words that keep the reader engaged and how can we forget his art of story telling.
In my opinion, y...

Beautiful and heartbreaking

It was a wonderful read though the last 15 pages I didnt want to read any further for the climax I was anticipating.
Sorrow and joy at the same time.
The author is fantastic though I still wish the end could have been something else :)
Five stars from me.
