    About the Book

At first, George Orwell’s Animal Farm may seem like a fancy yet simple story where Old Major instigates two pigs, Snowball and Napoleon, to revolt against the farmer who owns them. But, the story isn’t as simple as it seems. In Animal Farm, Orwell has taken a few events from Russian history - the Russian Revolution and Stalin’s rise to power - and has tried to mock them. In fact, in one of his letters to the French translator Yvonne Davet, Orwell referred to Animal Farm as a tale written to ridicule Stalin. A democratic socialist, Orwell was always a critic of Stalin and he strongly opposed the idea of dictatorship, and that’s what this book is all about.

    About the Author

An outspoken supporter of democratic socialism and an ardent opposer of totalitarianism - these are the traits that describe English novelist Eric Arthur Blair, famously known as George Orwell, the best. In fact, Orwell’s awareness of social injustice and his lucid prose made his literary works something that every reader should consider reading at some point in his/her lifetime. Although Orwell died at a relatively young age of 46, his works - Animal Farm, 1984, Homage to Catalonia, and Down and Out in Paris and London - still continue to make readers wish that there was more to read from him.

Don't judge a book by its cover

Animal Farm has always been a name I was accustomed to since my childhood. I had the perception of it being a story of a bunch of animals from their perspective.
When I did read it, it was so much more. Not just a satire on our society's hypocritical power system, but very intricately, it describes the complete procedure that leads to a power hierarchy in the cover of witty humor.
So much is said in such a short book, everyone is bound to have the dilemma of wanting to gulp it down in an inst...

    Good copy

This is a review of the physical quality of the book rather than the reading matter presented in the book itself. A review of this book can be found anywhere online. But if you are planning to order this copy, and if you're a bibliophile like me, then you'd want to know about the physical quality of the book you are going to get your hands on.

I bought the Animal Farm by the publisher Penguin. The one with the red cover and the pink silhouette of a pig with the line 'All animals are equal, ...

Not Against socialism but against people who betrayed socialism

Unlike what many people think, this book is not a parody on socialism or intends to criticise the system. On the contrary it shows how propaganda and manipulation can kill the gains of any egalitarian society .
Orwell hits his dystopia with elan. The scary fact is that at the end of "Animal Farm" , he left no ray of hope, no shimmer of light. Read it to know how dangerous is " the squealer" . In the present world where the propagandizing is far easier than debate, the book leaves a haunting i...

A Brutal Satire On The Ruling Elite

Although I wouldn’t give away the plot, the story metamorphically portrays how the so called leaders of revolution corner for themselves and their progeny all the benefits while the rest are subject to all kinds of hardship.

The tale of animals severely lampoons the attempts of the political masters in altering even the basic tenets of the revolution to suit their individual needs and the grand lies they devise to cover up their shortcomings – and ultimately the political masters regardless...

    MUST READ !!

This book is a must read for anyone who wishes to understand the political system of his'/her's respective country especially democracy. Through the use of animals the author George Orwell, efficiently displays the corrupting influence of power. This book I believe helps the reader to gain a bird's eye view of the scenario of politics that prevails in his'/her's political system.
It is a very interesting and amazing read for the readers. So go for it.

    STUPENDOUS BOOK

A must read for every book lover . If you are interested in politics this book is your Bible . This allegorical and dystopian novel by Orwell reflects the events leading up to the Russian Revolution and is also a terrible satire on Stalinism . A brilliant satirical work blending satire and wit. Its both surprising and convincing how Stalin has been reduced to a pig (Napoleon) and his enemy Trotsky to yet another pig (Snowball).
Time magazine chose the book as one of the 100 best English-lang...

    True Agony of a Socialist

Orwell is obviously angry at the way Socialism has been distorted by Stalin. Using Animal characters as symbols Orwell honestly mocks and criticizes the Russian leadership under Lenin. It is a very easy to read book giving good perspectives on the Socialist Revolution.

    Just okay

Orwell's Animal farm is a satire about the corruption that is being done by the humans when they have power. Napoleon ( portrayed as a pig) is the leader of the Animal Farm. He is very corrupt and how he cheats his fellow livestock forms the plot of the story.

Actually Stalin, the leader of the Soviet union has been portrayed as Napoleon and this book has been banned in many parts of the world .
