Comprehensive, illustrated guidebook on treks in the Annapurna region of Nepal that comes with a detailed foldout map. "The best trail guide (for the Annapurna Circuit)", recommends 'Backpacker' magazine. With over 25 maps (besides the foldout map at the back) and some 160 color photographs, the guide comes packed with exhaustive, day-by-day description of the Annapurna Circuit and Sanctuary trails. There is in addition practical advice on planning and budgeting the treks plus background reading on the varied peoples who live in the Annapurna region and an introduction to Tibetan Buddhism, the religion they mostly practice. The guidebook also has a chapter on the fascinating story of the 1950 epic French ascent of Annapurna I, the first 'eight-thousander' ever climbed.

Absolutely THE book for a drive/ride through the Area
The book is probably the simplest and most brilliant book on Leh and Ladakh. I used it when I drove alone, and it is a geographical treasure with names of rivers and its written with an amazing pace- that you feel the author is commenting while riding with you. names of Rivers, towns, detailed maps. For the price, its a steal. MUST HAVE.
