this is THE book for programmers

First, the price is very, very reasonable.
Second, if there are two things software is known for, those can be the facts that software is always delivered late and full of bugs. Knuth will not teach you best programming practices like design patterns ( don't except those form the books ) but he will teach you one thing : how to write software you're confident in and about. No matter how good is your software architecture if its performance is bad or the algorithms are wrongly implemented, yes...

Read this book if you want to call yourself a computer scientist.

This book, as well as the other books in this series, forces you to think about algorithms and programming like you have never thought before. It is rigorous and leaves no aspect of algorithm analysis untouched. That said, you cannot read it in one day, or one month or probably even in an year. Reading Knuth is probably a lifelong pursuit, but rest assured, it is worth it. Read it if you want to become a real computer scientist, as opposed to the hordes of software jockeys who learn java and ...

Good book for Programmers

This book opens a whole new vista of knowledge. If you feel you are a really good programmer and you don't own this book I recommend you to read the books of this series. You realize you know little. The author has discussed every topic deeply and abstractly and added examples to make the materials lucid

Is there anything to say about this!!

This book is considered a masterpiece about computer programming, but definitely not for those who program casually. If programming is your religion, this book is from the mouth of God. Flipkart did an excellent job of sending this book in time (even to my remote state! Assam!). Flipkart is usually good in books.

caution: it is from Pearson not Addison Wesley

i got the book a few days back. it is from Donald Knuth and i don't have to say anything about the standards. but i have to say that this book is not from Addison Wesley publishers. it is from Pearson.
Though most of the content is the same, the page numbers are different. All the errata corrections made by referencing the page numbers and the line number are based on the Addison Wesley edition. And it is mentioned in the Pearson edition- "see page iv" and there's nothing like page iv in it....
