    About the Book

Divided into 99 short chapters, The Art of Thinking Clearly discusses the fallacies, illusions, biases, and anomalies that influence or cloud human thinking. Each person’s mental process is swayed by many beliefs, both internal and external. This is the reason why some people continue to indulge in a bad habit even though they know it isn’t good for them. It’s why we take credit for success, but are reluctant to take blame for failures. Recognizing the errors in one’s thinking is the first step toward thinking clearly. Spot these errors, whether you’re engaging in a business negotiation, or dealing with a personal situation, and you can avoid mistakes and make better decisions.

Good (casual) read but not very good

Small write-ups...good for casual reading...mainly collection from multiple sources. Not a serious book that makes you think and reflect.

Poor Charlie's Almanack is the ideal one for that purpose.

A good compilation of human biases and fallacies.

The Art of Thinking Clearly is a good, one time read. Author Rolf Dobelli has compiled a list of fallacies and biases that humans fall into, and has given suggestions to get out of the trap. A good thing is that each of the fallacies or biases are given a name - which is useful to relate to when the situation occurs. For example, "scarcity error" is a trap we fall into when Flipkart says there are "only 2 pieces of Xiaomi phones in stock". The "anchor" bias happens when a shopkeeper first say...

    Mind-blowing

I wish I had read this book earlier! The book contains 99 chapters of different cognitive errors and biases. Rolf Dobelli illustrates each concept with easy-to-understand analogy. It is philosophical but practical. Even though the book sounds a bit more on the academic side, but it makes good bed-time reading material too. Worth the money!
