The GEL-BLADE 8 shoe is a functional choice for squash and badminton players seeking a responsive design that's effective for multi-directional movements, especially when engaging in diagonal court coverage. These athletes require dynamic support when making abrupt transitions, so we reconstructed the upper to provide a more supportive foothold. By raising the height of the heel collar and implementing no-sew overlays, we were able to increase support while still allowing the foot to move more freely. When our designers approached the midsole formation, they made the TPU TRUSSTIC component more hollow to reduce the shoe's weight, improve stability, and keep the foot from over-twisting. Familiar technologies, like the GEL technology unit in the heel, were left intact to help athletes experience advanced shock absorption during abrupt landings and sudden stops. Additionally, the outsole's lateral side in the heel has a more rounded shape compared to the medial side, which improves cushioning during diagonal movements. This athlete's routine diagonal court coverage was addressed in the outsole design, featuring our X GUIDANCE technology that creates improved flexibility and better agility during multi-directional movements. We also added a breaking pivot function in the tread pattern to help them transition more smoothly when they're switching directions.
