Summary of the Book

In this film script, Tariq Ali examines what he believes is the conspiracy behind the assassination of Indira Gandhi. Operation Blue Star was only a leverage, he says, which darker forces used for their gain to take Mrs. Gandhi out of the equation. Supporting Indira Gandhi's rule by showing it as a rule worthy of the daughter of Nehru, he shows how it was a rule free of Western control. A rule that was uncomfortable to most under her and needed her taken care of. It was an added plus that the Sikhs were already hating her. All that was needed was to put guns in their hands.

About Tariq Ali

Tariq Ali is a British-Pakistani writer, journalist and filmmaker. He has written several titles on politics and history including: Fear of Mirrors, 1968 and After: Inside the Revolution, Pakistan: Military Rule or People's Power, The Book of Saladin and Bush in Babylon.

A graduate of Exeter College, Oxford, where he studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics, he was politically active from his childhood and met with several personalities such as Malcom X at Oxford in 1964.

The current title finishes his trilogy which began with The Leopard and The Fox and A Banker For All Seasons.
