Asura (English, Hardcover, Neelakantan Anand)
The Ramayana told from the point of view of the one man who lost power, fame and wealth, Asura: Tale of the Vanquished is the Ravanayana, the song of Ravan, Lord of Lanka.
Summary of the Book
The unsung story of the defeated Asuras who, the writer says, were the victims of the war of the Ramayana, this book speaks with a voice that hasn't been heard in Indian mythology in eons. The death of Ravana is celebrated yearly in India even today, but what if Ravana had won instead? What made him fight the so-called ugly war? Was it wrong to fight on behalf of those the Devas oppressed? Was it a sin to fight for the sake of his daughter? The long hated villain of one of the greatest epics ever told speaks out in this book, telling all the story his heart has harboured for millennia.
