Description

The Asus VivoBook laptops are gaming laptops though they can also serve as entertainment devices if the need arises. Having a gaming laptop as opposed to a gaming desktop is a wise idea, especially when you know that you will need to go mobile with your machine at any given point in time. It may be to go to your friend’s house and attend a LAN party, it can even be to go to a neighborhood gaming convention to try out some of their interesting titles.

Purists may not agree to the viability of a gaming laptop as compared to a desktop because of one major point, in a desktop rig, a gamer can custom build his or her own gaming system. With the Asus gaming laptop however, you will not really have to think of swapping components out for others due to the high specification level it comes with.

Power Performance

The laptop provides for seamless performances while gaming, home use or even for high definition entertainment purposes. The Core i5 processor is of the 3 rd generation, bringing technological advances to the field of computing and data processing. The chip clocks in at around 2.6 GHz with Turbo Boost. The performance of the laptop is also augmented by the 750 GB SATA disk with 24 GB of SSD storage.

Elegant Looks

The laptop comes with a brushed aluminum exterior that gives a hairline like texture when you feel the surface, adding a layer of gripping surface as well as being aesthetically pleasing. This setup gives the whole laptop a highly durable finish with an elegant look.

Sound Enhancements

The Asus S550CM laptop comes with a set of high quality stereo speakers that can deliver high precision sound thanks to the SonicMaster sound technology. The technology is capable of delivering a rich sound experience. You could use the SonicMaster enhancement to give your music collection a whole new lease on life by giving it that extra power and quality.

Absolutely Wonderful Beast

The only laptop in this price range of comparable specs and build quality is the HP Envy M6. You should choose this one over the M6 if you care about having a touchscreen. This may not seem like much on a laptop, but with Windows 8 it really helps.

The laptop itself is surprisingly sleek, but you should note that it's a bit on the heavier side.

Plus the hybrid HDD is not a gimmick; it boots up in, on average, 6 seconds.

It's pretty smooth, and more Windows 8 updates just makes it even bett...

I bought this product for 51k which is so cheap, but after buying i found two problems. One with the touch screen . Whenever i close the screen and open again without shutting down the laptop i see lot of dots in screen but it will go off as soon i restart. Then with the Motherboard. Very Bad experience . Answer

@amrit - SSD is a data storage device using integrated circuit assemblies as memory to store data persistently. SSD technology uses electronic interfaces compatible with traditional block input/output (I/O) hard disk drives. Compared with electromechanical disks, SSDs are typically less susceptible to physical shock, run more quietly, have lower access time, and less latency.

P.S. - I'm going for this ultrabook... :D

How is this even for gaming?

How can someone call this a gaming ultrabook when it wont be even able to run Watch Dogs? For a laptop of such price, a 4GB RAM is too low......... Better go for Asus K55VM

Nice BIG ultrabook.

Yes, this this is big and heavy. But still they call it an ultrabook because of its thickness. It is less than 1" thick and the black aluminium finish is good. This is definitely looks a step above other low priced laptops and the quality is easily noticeable even for a normal user. But again this is not the best looking ultrabook, I would say average looking among the ultrabooks.

Size: This is big, bigger than the normal 15" laptops. The size is due to the large bezels on all sides of th...

A Complete Ultrabook

I don't want to talk much about what is in the specifications. Any how you will get what is been promised. Here is my user experience with the product.

Softwares and Drivers

The very first thing I love is the notebook comes with everything pre-loaded. There is no hassle that you have find and update the driver and no nasty updates that will take a day long.
ASUS included many useful software preloaded, power saving features and also there is free cloud subscription for a year. I’ll bet even...

Got my hands on it and I must say its asus's best laptop ever. I bought it from asus exclusive store 2 days back.. it has NVidia 635m 2 gb graphics card that handles latest titles at decent frame rates. its sleek and beautiful to look at with its aluminium finish.. the touch screen is quite responsive and works great with windows 8.. it even has a disk drive..
Pros - Touchscreen, good graphics card, beautiful.
cons - generates too much heat while playing games, screen resolution is basic 13...

Powerful ultrabook

It has been a tough time taking decision for this purchase as I was stuck with so many options.Acer v3, Dell 15z, the very expensive duo 11 but I ended buying this and here's the reason, I have always compared gaming desktops n notebook gaming but failed everytime..lol.Went Asus way because most of my destop components are from Asus

This machine is very well thought, the Intel low tdp ALU 3317u might not be the most powerful chip but you will be surprised by how intelligent and fast it is.I ...
