The Masterpiece

I am her fan so are millions of other, Atlas Shrugged is an application of the philosophy said in Fountain Head.
If Fountain head is great; then Atlas Shrugged is mesmerizing beauty; its exceptional. Author never keeps the content simple as she wants that only those who are committed to her work should be entitled to have the pleasure of understanding the content.

Facts:

In Fountain Head, the character of Howard Roak remains sketchy, some think that HR is not practical and some belief that ...

The work of a genius

I have read quite a few other books, by different authors. I have read Dan Brown, Paulo Coelho, Sidney Sheldon, books like Catch-22, etc.; and I have appreciated their writing style. But only when I read Ayn Rand did I feel how is it posible to write so well? How is she able to relate her philosophies to worldy things so that when she constructs a sentence, they complement each other perfectly. Atlas Shrugged and Fountainhead are true masterpieces. One may not agree completely with the philos...

Legend

Atlas shrugged is one of the most classic novels ever written. The story is riveting and the characters whose life one would covet to live . The philosophy conveyed is simple: you live for yourself.
While the book presents an oversimplified world it does convey the message effectively and is likely to have an everlasting impact on the reader.
Style is immensely engaging and the book truly casts a spell.

Too simple a world has been presented, where all the bums and incompetent run the governm...

More than just Objectivism!

I read Fountainhead and I thought of it as an OK book. But one of my friends told me that Ayn Rand's actual philosophy is outlined in Atlas Shrugged. So I started reading this book and boy what a ride! I'd stay up late at nights and find myself still thinking about this book in the morning. Not because I'm a capitalist or I believe in her philosophy completely. I don't. But I loved this book for the fact that it's so much thought provoking. For me the main characters in the book were not capi...

Atlas Shrugged

Atlas Shrugged or rather Ayn Rand herself espouses philosophies that are well presented and awesome to read but call for an idealistic world for execution of the ideas so put forth.

I enjoyed reading almost all her works but I do not buy her philosophies. The characters are well fleshed and aspirational to say the least. Capitalism and the sole pursuit of wealth though sounds good when done ethically.

However, one point- Why capitalism, why not charity, why not compassion and acceptance of ...

Lengthy, Highly controversial philosophy, Brilliant literature and style though

I took over a year to finish reading this book. Initially read it as a fictional novel but i must tell you it is much much more than that.

Ayn rand with her unique style of writing will keep you engaged through out this book with well constructed objective insights into her philosophy. The characters in the books are a great projection of her objectivist philosophy and through John Galt's speech at the end she surely makes a statement to the moral cannibals depleting out there depleting the...

better than Fountainhead

I read these books when I was 15 or 16. A typical teen idealism phase, when any "different" philosophy is very appealing. Loved the theme of Atlas Shrugged, even more than the more-famous Fountainhead which I had read earlier. Re-reading years later when I was 30, the books did not have the same appeal. The arguments and philosophy seemed too idealistic, not in touch with reality, and while commendable in parts, it seemed unsuitable to a large society where not everyone is born equal. Still, ...
