It was a case of mistaken identity. The organizers of a show mistook Jai (Dharmendra) for a singer. But he did not disappoint them. In the process he won over Arti (Asha Parekh). A whirlwind courtship followed. Everything was hunky dory, marriage plans were being made, when fate played a cruel trick. Jai knocked down and killed an old man. He had unknowingly killed Arti's father.
